Progress Nkwachukwu Chukwuyem (born December 29, 2000) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and performer. He gained popularity after winning Season 7 of Nigerian Idol in 2022.[1] He has since released an extended play and multiple singles, performed at national events, and collaborated with notable gospel artists. His work has been covered by media outlets such as The Guardian Nigeria, BBC News Pidgin, Music in Africa, and Vanguard.

Early life and education

Progress was born in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, into a Christian family as the third of six children. He began singing in church and local events from a young age, supported by his family. In 2015, he won a music competition in Warri titled "Gospel Rocks on Stage," and in 2016, he won "Take the Stage Nigeria." These early achievements motivated him to audition for Nigerian Idol where he emerged the winner in May 2022.

He debuted with the single Lift Me Up in 2022, followed by JO. In January 2024, he released the single Follow You,[3] and in November 2024, he released his debut EP This Is My Exodus.[4] The project featured tracks such as All Power Belongs to God and My Exodus (featuring The Unbeatable Choir).
