Humraaz (transl. Secret) is a 2025 Pakistani romantic thriller television drama series created by 7th Sky Entertainment, directed by Farooq Rind, written by Misbah Nosheen, and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. It premiered on Geo Entertainment on 1 May 2025.[1] The series stars Feroze Khan, Ayeza Khan, Zahid Ahmed, and Amna Ilyas in lead roles. The series revolves around Sara, Ahmer, and Saim, whose lives are turned upside down by a tragic event.[2]
Premise
[edit]Humraaz centers on the lives of three individuals: Sara (Ayeza Khan), Ahmer (Zahid Ahmed), and Saim (Feroze Khan), whose paths become entangled following a life-altering tragedy. Sara, a spirited and outgoing young woman, is in a romantic relationship with Ahmer. Saim, on the other hand, leads a separate life until an unexpected incident draws him into their world. The tragedy has a devastating impact on Saim, and all available evidence appears to implicate Sara.
Despite maintaining her innocence, Sara becomes the prime suspect. Saim, firmly believing in her guilt, is determined to seek justice. As the story unfolds, the lives of Sara, Ahmer, and Saim intersect in increasingly complex ways. They are forced to confront painful truths, emotional conflicts, and a deepening mystery as they search for answers and reckon with the consequences of the past.
Plot
[edit]Ahmer and Sara are deeply in love and set to marry, despite the ongoing discord between Ahmer's parents. Saim, a charming and devoted young man, is fiercely protective of his brother and willing to go to any lengths for him. As Sara begins preparing for the wedding, she plays a harmless prank on Saim's brother, Faraz, while out with friends. But tragedy strikes when Faraz is killed by his lover's family. With their wedding only days away, Ahmer and Sara are absorbed in their joyful plans, unaware of the storm brewing. Meanwhile, Saim is devastated by his brother’s death, overwhelmed by sorrow and anger. Together with his sister Saamia, he collects evidence pointing toward Sara.
On the day of Sara and Ahmer's wedding, everything appears perfect—until Saim arrives with the police, shattering their joy in a single moment. Right after marrying Ahmer, Sara is arrested. As Saim swears vengeance, Sara’s family rushes to leverage their influence for her release. The news of Sara’s alleged involvement in Faraz’s murder ignites a media frenzy. But in court, Saim and Saamia encounter an unexpected obstacle that complicates their fight for justice. Saim is infuriated to learn that Sara has been granted bail and begins to threaten her family openly. Meanwhile, Ahmer takes Sara home, resolute in his support for her.
Saim’s fixation on revenge begins to backfire, straining his bond with Mishal. Sara, now living in fear at Ahmer’s house, remains shaken by Saim’s threats. Mishal, hurt by his actions, decides to leave Saim’s home. As the courtroom battle unfolds, Sara’s lawyer presents strong witnesses and evidence to prove her innocence in Faraz’s murder. The court gives the decision in Sara’s favour, which makes Saim very angry. Filled with rage, he decides to take revenge on Sara. He finds unexpected support from someone inside Ahmer’s house and uses their help to threaten Sara and create more trouble for her.
Even after all options are closed, Saim does not lose hope, but his continuous efforts get him into serious trouble for causing mental stress to Sara. The police release him, but only under strict conditions. Meanwhile, Ahmer gives a special gift to Sara, but is shocked when she tells him that she wants to meet Saim’s family. With the support of Ahmer’s house staff, Saim starts playing mind games with Sara, badly affecting her mental condition and bringing her close to breaking down. During this conflict with Sara, Saim also suffers another personal loss. On the other hand, Sara finds it hard to convince Ahmer and her family about the difficult experiences she has faced.

Production
[edit]Development, casting and filming
[edit]Production began in late 2024 under the production banner of 7th Sky Entertainment.[6] Humraaz was written by Misbah Nosheen and directed by Farooq Rind, in his first collaboration with 7th Sky Entertainment. The project was produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi.[7] The lead cast includes Ayeza Khan, Feroze Khan, and Zahid Ahmed.[8] Supporting roles are played by Amna Ilyas, Kinza Malik, Noor ul Hassan, Annie Zaidi, and Hira Soomro.[9] Ayeza and Feroze reunited after previously working together in Bikhra Mera Naseeb.[10] Filming took place in 2024 in Karachi, Pakistan.[11][9] Feroze Khan and Ayeza Khan shared behind-the-scenes clips, including a wedding scene and a video of him singing on set.[12] Feroze Khan also revealed his son, Sultan, would appear in a cameo in the series.[13][14][15][16]
Release
[edit]The first teaser was released April 2025.[17] The drama premiered on Geo Entertainment on May 1, 2025 in the 8:00 PM slot.[18]
Reception
[edit]Pakistani television personality Nadia Khan described Humraaz harshly on her review show, calling it "the worst drama of 2025" and suggesting that viewers would only bother if other forms of entertainment were unavailable. Nadia also criticized the direction as "poorly executed and uninspired," echoing similar views from her co-panelists Atiqa Odho and Shamoon Abbasi.[19][20] Nadia Afgan also criticize the on-ser behavior of Feroze Khan.[21][22]
Reviewit.pk reported that while fans praised the return of leading actors Ayeza Khan and Feroze Khan and commended Farooq Rind’s direction, some viewers were disappointed by the intense, non-romantic tone of the storyline.[23][19] ThePakistan.pk likewise noted that the first episode opened with "mixed reactions," highlighting strong individual performances and intricate plotlines, but acknowledged that the multiple subplots confused some viewers.[23]
Samaa TV and Daily Times reported excitement over Feroze Khan’s dark, obsessive role and Ayeza Khan’s emotionally layered character, though they also noted audience comparisons to previous Geo Entertainment dramas like Khaani and Mere Paas Tum Ho.[10][24]
According to The Siasat Daily, some viewers on Reddit expressed concern about repetitive plot tropes and typecasting particularly criticism of Feroze Khan’s perceived “toxic” roles appearing again in similar character molds.[25]
Gulf News reviewed Humraaz as a much-hyped Pakistani thriller that has failed to meet expectations. Despite a strong cast and stylish production, the series has faced viewer backlash due to implausible storytelling, weak investigation sequences, and underdeveloped characters. The writing has been particularly criticized for lacking logic and depth, disappointing fans who expected a gripping drama. While performances of Ayeza Khan and Feroze Khan received some praise, the overall execution has been labeled underwhelming.[26]
