  • Comment: I feel like it's a bit suspicious that the main author of this article is a user with the name "Udi shapiro", whose name is very close to the article subject's name and who has only ever edited this article. Adi Shapiro (born December 2006) is an Israeli-British composer and singer-songwriter whose orchestral,[1][2] chamber,[3][4][5][6][7] and vocal[8] compositions have been performed internationally and have received multiple awards.[9][10][11][12][13]

Early life and education

Shapiro studied jazz voice at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance High School (2018–2020, 2022) and composition at the Special Music School in New York (2021). She currently studies composition at the Purcell School in the UK. Her teachers include Daniel Fardon, Simon Speare, Josef Bardanashvili, Whitney George, and Irena Svetova.[14]

Career

In 2024–2025, Shapiro received competitive recognition for her compositions in several open-age international competitions:

  • Her orchestral works Dragonflies Indoors and Emergence were finalists in the ORIENT/OCCIDENT Music Composers' Competition 2025 (Ukraine), with Emergence receiving a special mention.[10]
  • The Quiet Before the Storm (woodwind quintet) was awarded the Promising Young Talent Prize in the Vienna Classical Music Academy International Composition Competition (Austria).[11]
  • Flourish Regardless won The Sound Ensemble Composition Competition High School category, performed in Seattle.[9]
  • Her string quartet movement Devotion won the Festival Best Composer Award at the North London Festival, a UK youth music competition.[12]
  • Distortion was selected for performance at the She Lives Composition Master Class in Budapest.[16]

In 2024, her piano trio In Search for Serenity was performed by the Salzburg Piano Trio at their tour in Brasil and at Annette Studio, Tel Aviv, as part of the Poem Balev series.[17] She has also performed as a singer at venues including Wigmore Hall.
