He is best known for his revival chants and deeply spiritual worship songs[4], which have gained popularity among Christian youth communities in Nigeria and beyond. Oyor is the co-founder of the worship movement known as Davidic Minstrels.

Early life and education

Lawrence Oyor was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, into a Christian family. He has a twin brother, Godswill Oyor, and both were raised in a home where both parents served as clergymen. He attended Shalom Christian College in Ibadan for his secondary education. Oyor later gained admission to study Law at the University of Ibadan, graduating in 2013, before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus. In October 2016, he enrolled at the Texas Bible Institute in Columbus, Texas, where he graduated in 2017.[5][6][7]

Ministry

Oyor began his ministry journey alongside his twin brother, Godswill Oyor, with whom he co-founded *Davidic Minstrels*. The movement focuses on awakening hearts to worship and living a life of intimacy with God through prophetic songs and spiritual chants. He is also affiliated with the Catalyst Network International and Davidic Generation Church,[8] through which he continues to teach, mentor, and organize revival meetings and spiritual training events.[9]

Music career

Lawrence Oyor is widely recognized for his genre of worship that blends spontaneous chants with contemporary gospel music. His songs often emphasize themes such as spiritual hunger, consecration, and the pursuit of God. Some of his most well-known songs include:

  • "Bowl of Fire"
  • "Burn the World"
  • "I Cannot Fail"
  • "I'm in Love"
  • "Living Bread Living Water"
  • "Row Your Boat"
  • "This is My Worship"
  • "Wine of the Spirit"
  • Favour

These songs have been circulated widely, especially within youth fellowships, prayer networks, and campus-based Christian movements.[10]
