Brought up in [[Bridgend]], [[South Wales]], Miller joined the Conservative Party in 1983 and studied [[Economics]] at the [[London School of Economics]] in 1985, before working for a public relations agency and a large multi-national advertising agency, for which she was a company director. Prior to being elected to Parliament, Miller worked as a marketing consultant.
