Subject does not appear to meet the WP:SPORTSCRIT due to a lack of WP:SIGCOV. The only reference currently in the article is a database, while a search for sources elsewhere came up empty. Let'srun (talk) 20:55, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

- Keep, I added additional sourcing to the article. Subject was an African Games medalist satisfying WP:NATH prongs 2 and 1. More importantly, he would have been covered in Ivorian newspapers from the 1970s but they aren't accessible to us; of the ones with Wikipedia articles,
- Fraternité Matin: Online archive only goes back to 2019
- Notre Voie: Website not functional
- The issue here is only one of availability, not existence, and notability is always determined by the existence of sources and not their presence in the article. --Habst (talk) 12:06, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- The wikipedia article for Notre Voie notes that the newspaper was founded in 1991, which would have been long after the career for this athlete was over. In addition, there is no evidence to suggest media at the time this subject was active would have covered him. Let'srun (talk) 21:04, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Let'srun, per comment,
"At some level, we all know that there is local coverage on every modern Olympic athlete, because (a) local newspapers always run the 'local kid does well internationally' kinds of stories, because articles that combine national pride, local people, and good news sell well, and (b) every time someone has actually done the work of getting access to paper copies, they've found these sources"
. There were definitely several Ivorian newspapers active during the 1960s and 70s, and the country has a population of over 30 million people. --Habst (talk) 18:06, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

- Delete No indepth sourcing to meet WP:SPORTSCRIT. NEXIST doesn't give a free pass to notability when no indepth sources have been found. LibStar (talk) 02:37, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
