Unblock Request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Pablothepenguin (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I would like my account to be unblocked, so I can edit articles that relate to local interest, geography, transportation, maths, science and other topics. I am avoiding certain articles which may trigger me to compromise the topic ban or anything remotely close to this. I'm a lot better now than I was then. I plan to become an admin eventually, and will also do many counter vandalism and other related things. I would like to improve Wikipedia vastly. Thank you. (If another request is desired after this point, it will be made in March or April next year). Pablothepenguin (talk) 19:54, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Accept reason:

Accepted with the below conditions, namely an extension of the topic ban and acknowledgement that future violations will result in a reinstatement of the indefinite block. ~ Rob13Talk 15:00, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @JzG: What are your thoughts on this unblock request? At first glance, I'm inclined to grant it with restrictions, but I'd like your thoughts as the blocking administrator. ~ Rob13Talk 04:22, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As long as we don't see any repeat of this kid of thing: [1] Guy (Help!) 08:46, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think JzG has spoken now. Please can we reach a decision soon. Thank you. Pablothepenguin (talk) 22:14, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As per the policy on conditional unblocks, I'm willing to unblock you if you accept the following restrictions:
  1. Your topic ban on "all editing on Scotland in relation to Great Britain/United Kingdom, broadly construed" is extended to indefinite. Note that indefinite is not infinite. You may make an appeal to the community after six months.
  2. Further violations of your topic ban will result in reinstatement of your indefinite block.
If you agree with those conditions, please ping me acknowledging them, and I will unblock you. I'm willing to give you a chance because I'm convinced you can contribute productively if you choose to, but please understand that there will be very little wiggle room on these restrictions. I doubt an administrator would lift a second indefinite block for violations of the same topic ban. ~ Rob13Talk 14:06, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@BU Rob13: I agree to these conditions. Pablothepenguin (talk) 14:48, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Pablothepenguin. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
