About me.

  • "Jie" is a pseudonym. I am a Finance/Law undergraduate at the University of New South Wales but I tend to be interested in neither. I've been writing and editing articles for Wikipedia since July 2004. My main interests are East Asian military and political history, although recently I've also made forays into genealogy and popular culture.

I'm currently planning to retrace part of the journey taken by the Tang dynasty official Li Ao from Chang'an to Guangzhou in CE 809. His exact itinerary can be reconstructed from Lai nan lu, the diary he kept on the trip. Most of the journey can now be undertaken by rail, although a portion (Ganzhou to Shaoguan) must be travelled by road. I'll be making the trip probably in winter this year.
