Capitalization[edit]

Why is Storage Area Network written with capital initial letters? Michael Hardy 17:17, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)

For the same reason that Random Access Memory, on the rare occassions that it is spelt out, is done so thusly - the normal way of writing it is as the abbreviation, SAN.

Move to Storage Area Network?

Absolutely. Most computing terms that are abbreviated are written with capitals when spelled out, so as to explain the otherwise obfuscated acrostics which we tend to use. Storage Area Network is ALWAYS capitalized in ALL industry publications, as is Network-Attached Storage (which sometimes lacks the hyphen) and many other computer industry terms. Video editing / bandwidth quotas[edit]

DRBD[edit]

DRBD is software implementation of shared block level storage (that appears as local device) used in high-availability clustering http://www.drbd.org/

LUN[edit]

This wikipedia entry starts using the TLA LUN without explaination... Can all this disk storage technology be explained/introduced better? I expect your typical programmer/engineer knows about hard drives, floppy drives and possibly has heard of SCSI, but the rest warrants some definition and description...
