Sailor Aluminum Siren is the second of the Animamates to appear in both the manga and the final season of Sailor Moon. She and her fellow Animamates have been tasked by Galaxia to collect "true starseeds" of senshi to enable Galaxia rule the universe. She takes a human identity, Reiko Aya, when stalking her chosen victims, presenting them with her business card before she steals their starseed.
Her Senshi name is pronounced "say-ren", approximating the Greek pronunciation rather than the more usual Latin. Her "human" name, Reiko Aya, is a pun, like her fellow Animates': The full Japanese phrase ayatsuri ningyou means something like "manipulated puppet, victim of circumstance" which Aya is at times. Chop off the "aya" and you have her first name. Reiko is a "child spirit",another cute trait of Aya. Lastly, the "ningyou" in ayatsuri ningyou, if left on its own, means "mermaid"...[1]
She appeared in the Seramyu musical Kakyuu Ouhi Kourin (revised version) as part of the "Dancing Animamates" group; she calls herself Half Bad.
In the manga, Aluminum Siren first appears in Act 44 on the roof of Juuban High School and attacks Usagi and Seiya with Galactica Tsunami. She succeeds in stealing the starseeds of Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter, killing them; but is eventually killed herself by Sailor Star Maker and Sailor Star Fighter. Only in the manga is it explained that Aluminum Siren won Galaxia's favour by stealing the starseed of her native planet's Senshi, Sailor Mermaid. The anime implies she may have been Sailor Mermaid herself, corrupted and enslaved by Galaxia's golden bracelets.
In the anime, Episode 182, Aluminum Siren made her first appearance. She worked together with Sailor Lead Crow, who revealed that they were former rivals who competed for the position of Number One Anima-Mate. She discovered the identities of the Inner Senshi and the Starlights both but was killed by Galaxia in Episode 188 before this information did her any good. Sailor Lead Crow was then teamed with Sailor Tin Nyanko, who was secretly plotting against her. Ultimately, Sailor Lead Crow was swallowed by a black hole. Her last thought was, "I'm sorry, Siren."
Her voice, provided by Kikuko Inoue, is easily mistakable for Belldandy of Ah! My Goddess.
