The icon in this template is listed for future deletion here. There are possible replacements listed on that page. If you like, you can join in the discussion there. Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 14:32, Dec 6, 2004 (UTC)

I don't think this template should have an icon at all. Sure, icons are nifty, but why is it particularly important to draw anyone's attention to the fact that the article is about something computer-related (which is what an icon does) in the stub part of the article? To me it seems arbitrary and confusing -- I know that the first time one of these icons popped up while I was browsing I was thrown for a loop. To that end, I'm deleting the icon again, because it's just inappropriate to have one in this template. Adam Conover 17:13, Dec 6, 2004 (UTC)

Many/most of the stub templates have icons. For now, I put in the GNOME system icon which is clearly legal (GPL)... —Tkinias 20:47, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I changed the link in this stub template from Computing to Computer. Template:Comp-sci-stub has just been created, and I thought the relationship between Computing and Computer science was confusing. By linking to Computer in this stub, it should be more clear that this is the stub for general computer-related stuff and that Template:Comp-sci-stub is more specific. Protected[edit]

Why is this template protected? TimBentley (talk) 21:13, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good question... While switching icon, I'll unprotect. Circeus 02:35, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On second thoughts, I remembered Wikipedia:High-risk templates and had a look at Wikipedia:List of indefinitely protected pages, which is the explanation. Circeus 02:38, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki links for this stub[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that when I go to the category for this stub, the category has several links to the same category in other languges. These lead to the same stub template in their languages. I would like to create inter-wiki links for Template:Compu-stub, but it appears to be protected. Could some kind user with the privileges to edit protected pages do this for me? Move the stub boxes to a separate category?[edit]

Currently, this template is in the category Category:Stub message boxes which I find impossible to navigate when looking for the more specific computing stub boxes. Can we create a Category:Computing stub message boxes where this template and things like Template:Compu-AI-stub can go? (Of course, computing isn't really the problem here--it's the geographical and per-year template stubs.) Qwertyus (talk) 21:20, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
