Rules of the Game

According to the USSSA official rule book[1] there are multiple different rules that apply to the sport that differ from the game of women softball and mens baseball. The official size of the field is 65 inch base paths and a pitching rubber that is 24 inches long and 6 inches wide. The batters boxes are provided on each side of the plate and are 5 and 1/2 feet long and 3 and 1/2 feet wide. Theres also a catchers box that is added to the game that the catcher is required to stand in when the pitcher is pitching.
Equipment
All equipment rules are appointed to by the official rule book of the USSSA.[2] Bats need to be rounded, at most 34 inches long, and need to have a stamp approved by the USSSA and BFA. The bat also has to be made of hard wood, laminated hard wood, aluminum, metal, fiberglass, or graphite. The bat must also have a closed barrel end, a handler, and a taper. Any bats that do not follow any of these rules will be suspended from play. Softballs must also be approved by the USSSA and have a stamp to prove. The softball must 12" and weigh 6.4 ounces and have at least 88 stitches in each cover. There also needs to be a yellow cover over the ball in order for it to be used in official games. All gloves must be regulated and be the same size (4 1/2 Inches at the top) with exception to the catcher, pitcher, and 1st baseman. All rubber creates made with leather or canvas are legal in play. If the shoe has any sort of metal cleated bottoms, they are not acceptable for play.
The Game
According to the USSSA official rule book[3], all regulation games consist of 7 innings. This rule does not apply if the game is tied through seven innings, the game will then continue until one team has won. The umpire or tournament director can call a game at any time because of rain, darkness, or panic for safety. Touching home plate after a runner touches first, second and third before, results in one run just as it is in baseball. Each individual game will have a limit to the amount of home runs that can be hit in that game. If a team exceeds the limit of home runs, each home run will result in an out.
