Air Marshal V Rajasekhar, AVSM is a senior serving Air Officer in the Indian Air Force, currently holding the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance.[1]. Prior to this, he has held several key leadership positions, including Director General (Systems) [2]at Air Headquarters and Commandant of the prestigious Military Institute of Technology (MILIT)[3]. Early life and education
[edit]Air Marshal V Rajasekhar, AVSM, holds a postgraduate degree in Control Systems from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. He earned his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Karnataka University.
His professional and academic interests span a broad range of advanced technological domains, including Embedded Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Computer Networks, and Neural Networks.
Career
[edit]Air Marshal V Rajasekhar, AVSM, was commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) Branch of the Indian Air Force[4]. Over an illustrious career spanning more than 37 years[5], he has rendered distinguished service across diverse domains including communications, networking, aircraft maintenance, and technical training.
A significant part of his operational tenure includes six years of hands-on experience with the maintenance of Mirage-2000 avionics and systems, highlighting his deep technical expertise in frontline fighter aircraft systems.
As Director of AFNET during an earlier tenure, he played a pivotal role in the conceptualization, planning, design, and successful implementation of the prestigious AFNET (Air Force Network) project, which was later dedicated to the nation by the Honorable Raksha Mantri.
Subsequently, as Air Commodore Operations (Communication) at Air Headquarters[6], he was instrumental in the planning, contracting, and rollout of critical next-generation communication infrastructure projects. These included the upgraded AFNET, SATCOM networks, DMRR Data Centre modernization, and enhancements to the AFCEL (Air Force Cellular Network).
He also served as the Commandant of the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), a premier tri-services technical training institution, where he contributed to the advancement of joint military education and training.
Before taking over his current appointment as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, he served as Director General (Systems). In this role, he oversaw the maintenance and operational sustenance of strategic systems including Radars, Missiles, Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, Armament, Simulators, and Navigation Aids.
