Potential Articles
[edit]- Russophilia: I was interested that Wikipedia's suggestion was to steer this article away from political information toward a focus on Russian culture. I am currently studying Russian history, so I wanted a chance to focus this article on cultural subject matter I am currently interested in.
- Very interesting! This should be a good pick for this assignment.
- Judgement: This entry is written as an essay and has several issues including point of view and improper language.
- Same as above! Another good pick.
- Lunar eclipse: I am interested in this subject matter and wanted to include a scientific article as an option for this assignment. I believe I could make improvements to the organization of this article as well.
- Ziti: The organization of this article is terrible, and the information/graphics are outdated. The subject matter is simple, but I felt I could make some significant edits and learn a lot from this assignment.
- Fire safety: Wikipedia suggested finding more global information regarding this subject, which I thought could be interesting to research and add.
- Thanks! I've assigned you your articles on Wiki Education! Dr.ozkul (talk) 19:19, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Model Articles
[edit]- Feminism in Russia: Relates strongly to the subject matter of Russophilia. A lot of the comments on this article's talk page were about the bias of the article. Different editors had different ideas on what the focus of the article should be, as well as how much writing should be devoted to different events and ideas. The article was edited as part of an "edit-a-thon" event, which I thought was interesting.
- German nationalism in Austria: The suggestion for edits on the Russophilia article directed editors to focus more on culture than modern politics. Due to the serious historical implications of German nationalism in Austria and the manner in which this model article presented this subject, I thought it would be helpful for guidance throughout my edits. There was very little discussion happening on this article's talk page, and it all happened between 2 editors, which I did not expect due to the subject matter, but a fair amount of edits.
- Motivation: A similarly broad topic to Judgement that avoided essay-like text. The article was subject to a very detailed review, which is now a closed discussion (the first one I have seen). I was surprised by the extent of some of the edits made on previous versions, especially in the form of heavy deletions.
