Wontumi Radio is a privately owned radio station broadcasting on 101.3 MHz FM in Kumasi, the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Region. It is part of the Wontumi Communications Network, owned by Ghanaian politician and businessman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

History

Wontumi Radio began test transmissions in March 2020, launching alongside its sister television channel, Wontumi TV. The station was established by Antwi Boasiako, who is also the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ownership and Network

The station is operated by Wontumi Communications Limited, which also manages Wontumi TV. Wontumi Radio has a sister station broadcasting in Accra on 95.9 MHz.

In November 2024, presenter Oheneba Nana Asiedu was arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly spreading false information during the 2024 general elections. He claimed that voters should cast their ballots on different dates based on their position on the ballot paper, a statement the police described as “false and likely to disturb public peace.”

7In June 2022, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) accused the station of unauthorized electricity usage, alleging that over GHS 100,000 worth of power had been used without proper payment.
