Matthew Robert Patrick (Born November 15, 1986) also known as MatPat is an American YouTuber and internet personality. He is the creator of various channels on YouTube such as Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory, and GT Live. All of his channels center around logic as well as a more scientific and mathematical lens which is then applied to different video games as well as food and film respectively. Game Theory focuses on lore and hypothesizing different theories and trying to prove them with logistical and scientific concepts. In addition to the creation of his channels, Patrick narrates the majority of the videos that are presented on his channels, with some exceptions to Austin Hourigan who also hosts some Game Theory videos.

As of 2020, Patrick has over 34 million subscribers as well as over 7 billion views across all four channels.

Early Years

Matthew Robert Patrick was born on November 15t, 1987 in Medina County Ohio. Growing up Patrick took an interest in video games such as Mario and Castlevania. He also became heavily involved with theater. Matthew was part of five show choirs, the president and dance captain as well as playing the viola in an orchestra, in which he would perform in approximately six stage shows per year. From an early age, Patrick enjoyed school and would take extra courses, which would transfer over to his university years.

Patrick attended Duke University on an academic scholarship and majored in Theater and Psychology as well as Neuroscience. He was a resident assistant for three years and graduated sum cum laude in 2009 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
