Activitities
Writing and starting Wikipedia pages (mostly Dutch, but also two English, one German and one French article to see how that works). In 2019 also started adding and improving other articles and also linking other articles with articles written by me.
Area
World War II, with a focus on the Eastern Front. Mostly writing from a German perspective (also because the Soviet side is usually poorly (publicly) documented). My World War II hobby started when I was 12 and I started putting together a plastic model airplane with my brother, coincidentally an airplane from this period (a Messerschmitt Me 262).
Reason
I started because I noticed that on the Internet in general, but certainly on Wikipedia, most of the standard battles are written about (Operation Barbarossa, Battle of Stalingrad or Kursk etc etc), but that there are many unknown battles that are absolutely underexposed (and often completely unknown). The well-known historian US Col. David M. Glantz (an expert on this German-Russian war), always calls these "forgotten battles". I then decided to make my contribution to better describe this underexposed part.
