Kiss Dorottya Éva (born July 14, 1980, Budapest) is a Hungarian dancer, choreographer/director, university senior lecturer, and entrepreneur.[2][3]
She has obtained multiple qualifications throughout her career, including NLP Master Practitioner certification, advanced NLP communication and positive psychology training, as well as social and emotional intelligence coaching. Additionally, she is a certified AQUAKONTAKT movement meditation therapist and holds a certificate in Hellinger family constellation methods. Her parents are Dr. Éva Urbán, lawyer and later attorney, and Dr. István Kiss, electrical and economic engineer.
Life and Career
[edit]Kiss began her schooling in Budapest at the Törökvész utca (today Rózsadomb) primary school, where she attended the first experimental class in the capital, inspired by József Zsolnai's school experiment in Törökbálint.[4] Thanks to the talent development education, she choreographed a dance performance for her eighth-grade graduation ceremony. She started high school at Toldy Ferenc Gimnázium, but left after the second year due to her strong interest in the arts, contrary to the school's science-focused orientation. In 1998, she graduated as a private student from the then State Ballet Institute High School. Alongside her studies, she learned modern dance from Iván Angelusz and Béla Földi, and attended the Oktogon Dance Center, where she became a member of the performing group under the leadership of two-time world champion step dancer László Bóbis.[5]
After graduation, due to the lack of higher education opportunities in modern and contemporary dance in Hungary at the time, she sought further studies abroad. On her first attempt, she was admitted to the Amsterdam University of the Arts (then Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Academy of Theatre and Dance). She graduated in 2002. Initially, she worked with foreign ensembles, then founded her own dance theatre.
Dance and Science
[edit]In 2005, she founded her own company in the Netherlands, the de KISS moves FUSION Dance Theatre Company (DKM).[6] DKM pioneered new paths in blending various dance and music genres, often basing its conceptual themes on scientific research. The company's groundbreaking repertoire included reimagined classics such as Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, or Bach's Cello Suites, fused with dubstep and house styles, as well as psychological, philosophical, and social themes.
During her tours, she earned an additional BA and two MA degrees at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). From 2009, her sociological, psychological, and cultural economics studies significantly influenced her artistic work. During her studies, she also participated in research projects.[7][8] Over 11 years, she organized 11 national tours, 12 premieres, and held over 800 performances in the Netherlands. Abroad, her company participated in the closing event of the Guangzhou Dance Festival in China. DKM was the first fusion dance theatre company in the Netherlands, reaching over half a million people with its concept, not counting the television series through which an additional 2 million were reached.
Her company was highlighted and awarded in the RTL Holland programs Holland's Got Talent and Everybody Dance Now.[9] "You guys are the show, you guys are Everybody Dance Now. It is so entertaining to watch and I mean your level of ability in every style is so high. I could not ask for anything more for a performance" said Dan Karaty, jury chairman Everybody Dance Now.
During these years, she also ran dance workshops under the title "Fusion Laboratory" (FLAB), aiming to introduce ensemble movement and improvisation culture and provide further training for young artists, including two occasions in Budapest.[10][11]
Blending art and science for social and individual development, she had numerous public appearances in the Netherlands, for example at entrepreneurs' days and at the 2014 Women's Day event in The Hague.[12]
During her years in the Netherlands, she was co-founder and leader of the BARDooo Art Works DESIGN & BRANDING enterprise.
In 2016, partly due to shrinking cultural funding in the Netherlands, she dissolved her company, closed her businesses, and began living between two countries while continuing her work as a university senior lecturer.
University Lecturing
[edit]In 2015, Erasmus University Rotterdam invited her to combine her management experience with theory and teach these insights. Since then, until 2025, she has taught courses, many of which she developed herself, within the History, Culture and Communication department at Erasmus University, on two faculties:[13][14][15]

In Hungary, in the 2020s, she completed the postgraduate Mental Hygiene Assistant program at the Károli Gáspár Reformed University, Faculty of Humanities, Institute of Psychology.
In 2024, she founded a company in Hungary that also combines art, science, and the development of individual and collective potential.[17]
