User:Smallbones/Time test

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is just a test for a random articles study I'd like to do. In it I'd like to divide up randomly selected article into categories of between 2% and 15% of all articles, and look at article characteristics such as page size, number of edits, number of tags, article rating, etc. Number of page views in last 90 days will be important and I'd like to do this at the same time as I randomly select the article. This test will be just to see how long it takes to select 10 random articles and get the page views.

now it's 6:25

  1. Pads, 3585
  2. iRise, 2844
  3. Intrauterine device, 87552
  4. This Is Our House, 1354
  5. Markersbach Pumped Storage Power Plant, 321
  6. Alice in Wonderland (1966 TV play), 2901
  7. Silver Knight (horse), 331
  8. San Carlo ai Catinari, 1260
  9. Patricia King, 2231
  10. Ancipitia, 381

time 6:35

i.e. 1 per minute. Most of that time was in waiting for the 90 day pageviews to show. 30 day page views might be slightly faster, but that time can be spent copying article name to this page. Thus 120 articles with 90 day page views would take 2 hours just for this info, but with 30 day pageviews might take just 1 hour. 400 articles might take 4 hours with breaks.
