The basis of these applications is the use of a relational database model. Applications built on the platform include an online relational database and a customer relationship management system. LongJump applications are available as Software As A Service (SaaS) or Cloud Computing applications; utilities that are hosted on remote servers rather than on personal or corporate computers (i.e. On-premises software. The user accesses the software using a web browser.[1]
The platform as a service (PaaS) offering from LongJump is geared towards an independent software vendor.[2] It's relational database product is geared towards companies and organizations needing to host and share data online.[3]
History
[edit]When founder and CEO Pankaj Malviya first came up with the idea for LongJump as a customizable on-demand business application platform that ran over the web, it was during a time when the web was still immature and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) was still in its infancy. In 2003, the company launched Relationals but realizing they needed revenue, decided to build applications for sale, including CRM, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance tools, and survey applications. The company even built a dating site, to grow the business and capture a market. In 2007, the company showed some success in their CRM product and reinvested it back into the PaaS product and launched again as LongJump.[4]
