Localization for dark-mode.js[edit]

Hello Ahmad252, I hope you don’t mind but I’ve copied your version of Volker's dark them for fa.wikipedia. I was wondering if you knew how to make a version that works on en.wiktionary? — LissanX (talk) 21:20, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LissanX. I copied a version in en.wiktionary. To use it, you can simply copy the content of wiktionary:en:Special:PermaLink/54646987 into your common.js. Ahmadtalk 21:30, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! — LissanX (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome. I'm always glad to help :) Ahmadtalk 22:05, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, you didn't do anything wrong. What you did was fine. JBW (talk) Formerly known as JamesBWatson 15:33, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

article[edit]

Hey Ahmad252 can you tell me if this article is notable? It looks like paid for spam to me and they're insisting that they're recreating it from fa wiki but I can't seem to find it there. Praxidicae (talk) 12:56, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it might be spam based on this. Praxidicae (talk) 13:19, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Praxidicae. Yes, that's the article on fawiki, which has been deleted based on an AfD. As far as I know, this article's subject is not notable. I checked article's references as well. The first one is the coverage of the company's CEO's lecture about it. The second one is about Esteghlal F.C., it's not related to the subject at all. The third reference is a short post that shows no claim of notability; it's just an introduction. I think the fourth reference is not related as well. The fifth one is a post with links to KiliD, but there is nothing in particular about this website, KiliD, in the source. The sixth source is not related to the subject directly; it has only published parts of the lecture mentioned on the first source, however, this reference is not particularly about KiliD. The next two sources are the same as the first one. The 9th reference is a brief interview with the company's CEO at Iran Elecom exhibition. The 10th reference is a link to a website's main page that isn't related to KiliD. The 11th one is the same is reference one (but shorter; somehow like the third reference). As far as I can see, the 12th reference doesn't show anything related to KiliD. I couldn't open the 13th reference, but it's title suggests that it's another short post about KiliD. The 14th one is a duplicate of reference #9. Reference #15 is an interview with the CEO. Reference #16 is like reference #3. Finally, reference #17 is a promotional post.
Putting all this together, I can say that no; this is not notable. Almost all sources have covered the company's opening ceremony. Some are not related to the subject at all, and two are interviews. I can find no neutral review about it, nothing that can prove the notability of the subject. Ahmadtalk 13:55, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

Hi Ahmad! I am hoping you will see this here. I came across Sonia Beytoushi earlier and I feel like something strange is going on (hence why I've AFD'd it) as there are articles on about 12 other projects except FA. From my searching of her name in FA "سونیا بیطوشی" I can't find anything, nor in English. It appears to be mostly a hoax claiming she's competed in Miss Universe which is demonstrably false but also another non-notable pageant, Miss Grand Universe. I was wondering as a native speaker if you can tell me if there are any sources I seem to be missing? This appears to be a nefarious attempt to gain notability and credibility not just on WP but through other outlets, like her instagram and "official" site which make these same dubious claims. Praxidicae (talk) 16:22, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Praxidicae: Hi. I do; I have notifications enable everywhere ;) This is a post, published on VOA-PNN. Based on the information provided in that report, published at December 29, 2016, Sonia Beytoushi said that she wanted to attend 2017's Miss World pageant. It seems that Rudaw Media Network has published a report, and claimed that she was crowned as Miss Iran 2016. That being said, I know for a fact that we don't have any official "Miss Iran" in Iran; this has also been reflected in that report; it states that "Miss Iran" is illegal and unofficial in Iran. There has apparently also been a website, missworldiran.com, but it's down. Even if there has been such an event in Iran, it hasn't been official, and therefore can't be a good reason to call someone notable.
The source I explained above is the only reference given to prove that she has been crowned as Miss Iran 2016 and Miss Universe Iran 2019. As I said, "Miss Iran" isn't an official event, and, because the mentioned post has been published in 2016, it can't prove the claim about being "Miss Universe Iran 2019". I couldn't find any reference claiming that Sonia Beytoushi even attended Miss Universe 2019. I could only find this, claiming that "Shirin Heidari is Iran’s first representative" in Miss Universe 2019. That being said, I could find no reference that proves she actually attended Miss Universe 2019.
On a side note, I could also find this website as "Miss Iran official website", but I can't find anything showing it's official. Ahmadtalk 17:13, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
thank you for your help! It appears this is going to be an uphill battle crosswiki. Praxidicae (talk) 18:30, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I also nominated it for deletion at Persian Wikipedia. Maybe fawiki users can find references that I couldn't find. Ahmadtalk 20:23, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime, Mztourist. Just one thing: am I correct in assuming that you don't use Twinkle? If so, I suggest you enable it in your preferences. It will make it much easier and faster to create AfDs. Ahmadtalk 09:10, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you take a look?[edit]

Can you take a look at these articles that this user seems to keep recreating? It doesn't appear that some are notable but I'd like to confer with a native speaker before I afd :)

Thanks! Praxidicae (talk) 15:52, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Praxidicae: Apologies for the delay. Sure; here's what I could find:
  • Regarding Mohammad Bozorgi, I can confirm that he's different from fa:محمد بزرگ‌نیا (and the latter's family name is "Bozorgnia"). I could find this (which is identical to [1]), which focuses on his 2015 works. It's rather short, and it doesn't focus on any particular work; rather, it focuses on his style. I can say it's worthy of note, but I think it's not enough (to be exact, the one related criterion I can think of is WP:ARTIST #2, but the source is not enough to prove it). I could also find this; it's about his presence in an art gallery in Tehran, Iran. There are some related notes about his painting style on this source as well, but those aren't the subject of the source (neither of these sources is a comprehensive review). Other than these, I can't find anything else on Persian sources. I could find this, too. Maybe someone more familiar with art auctions can find more sources (on professional references), but this is everything I could find. If his style of calligraphy can be considered "significant", I think that can make him notable, but it's not really my area of expertise.
  • Regarding Masoud Karian, I believe that he fails WP:GNG and WP:NBIO. None of links and references included in the article are reliable and/or of enough depth, and I can find nothing worthy of note about him on Google. In addition, I'm not sure if claims included in the article (especially the "Activities" section) are verifiable; I couldn't find something on the web. Ahmadtalk 22:09, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ahmad252 could you take a look at this and tell me whether it should even exist? I used google translate and it appears to be a competition for young children and I don't really see any indication that it should exist on any project...Praxidicae (talk) 12:49, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Same for thisPraxidicae (talk) 12:52, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Praxidicae. Based on what I could understand from the article (and the source, which is Persian), they both won a medal in the National Scientific Olympiads of Iran, but I think that doesn't make a person notable per se. According to [2], each year, around 40 students win different medals in each olympiad. w:mzn:شایان نوروزی won a silver medal in the Biology Olympiad, and w:mzn:سید مجتبی عابدی won a gold medal in the Chemistry Olympiad. Apparently, 8 people win gold medals each year, and the rest of participants win silver/bronze medals. Out of the 8 gold winners, 4 will be picked to take part in the International Olympiads, and silver/bronze winners don't take part in the International Olympiads at all. I think both of them fail WP:GNG and WP:NBIO. Specifically, I don't think National Scientific Olympiads of Iran are "well-known and significant award[s]", since there is little to no coverage for them in the news. Notice

The article Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is redundant and it's main content should be merged with main model article. There is no need for articles of a particular version of a model as they are dozens or tens of versions and none is notable enough on it's own to justify a separate article. Main content of this article is only 1600+ bytes and will fit the main article without issues.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
