Tricky Dick -- 1960, not 1964

Re your edit to WP:RDH#Prominent cases of "second acts" in United States politics?, Nixon's unsuccessful presidential run was 1960 (with a losing CA gubernatorial bid in 1962. From 1964 United States presidential election#The primaries: "Former Vice-President Richard Nixon, who had been beaten by Kennedy in the extremely close 1960 presidential election, decided not to run."

Cheers! -- ToE 15:51, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I remember it all too well. That's why I said Nixon was a special case. [And thanks for pointing out my typo!] ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:43, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure it's exactly carrot color, but it looks better on-screen than pure orange. Plus, it's kind of like the Chicago Bears color. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:39, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Taking care with tags

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In your edit of 09:46, 10 April 2021 of Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous, you inserted a whole new indented block inside a <small>...</small> that was already indented, thus creating Misnested tags for <small>...</small>. Whenever a <small> tag is on a line beginning with an asterisk (*), number (#) or colon (:), the closing </small> tag also has to be within the scope of the the asterisk, number, or colon. You did the same thing again in your edit of 19:34, 13 April 2021. I fixed both errors. —Anomalocaris (talk) 06:06, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding...

I'm in the thread, and your comment was in response to the conversation I am in, even directly referencing things I've said. It is my business. If you want to discuss the larger issue that editor is presenting, I started a discussion about it and would welcome your contribution. The comment I removed, however, was not going to do anything helpful. At best, it was going to confuse Rizosome into thinking the answer to his question had to do with the speed of velocity of UV light, and at worst, it was off topic antagonism on your part. I'm as fed up as you are by that editor, but your comment did nothing to help the issue, and may have hurt it. --OuroborosCobra (talk) 20:41, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying America hasn't always been the land of the free, BUT...

...you mainstream types do already follow a very strict, very unwritten dress code, from kindergarten to the nursing home and every institution between. And it's about something even that crusty Fairfax dean daren't utter a word of oppression against. That's right, nipples. Heck, even testicles are verbotten. And don't even think of wearing a skirt that sheds God's light on the clitoris! Especially if you're seventeen, especially if you're on TV, especially if you want to be the president one day. But yeah, I agree British schoolmasters take it "too far", you guys were right to rebel when you did. Cheers to the Americas, best continents in the known universe! Commenting in a closed discussion

I appreciate the sentiment here, but I'll ask you to self-revert simply because the discussion was already closed. In order to effectively resist the trolls that plague this topic area, good faith editors need to hold themselves to a strict standard. I hope that makes sense.
