The Donald Trump article is a biography of Trump, meaning its perspective should be on his entire life. We must summarize his eventful 79 years on a single webpage of readable length. This requires us to be very selective about what we include. Much of the post-2015 detail, if it belongs in any Wikipedia article, is better included in one or more of the many other Trump-related articles (aka "Trump subarticles").
The adjacent navbox is an index of those articles. Consider taking your suggestion, proposal, or bold edit to one or more of those articles. (If your content is already included there, your work is done.)
Q: How is my content less important than W, X, Y, or Z, which are already in the biography article?
A: Maybe it isn't. Maybe W, X, Y, and Z should be removed from the biography article, and bad stuff should not be used as precedent to justify more bad stuff. It's more difficult to remove long-standing existing content than to filter new content. (Nota bene: Your content is "bad stuff" only at the biography article. Elsewhere, it might be fine stuff.)
Descriptions of some of the more important articles follow.
Trump-related navigation templates
[edit]Articles about Donald Trump are organized into several themes. Because of the large number of articles involved, full navigation is split among several navboxes:
- {{Donald Trump}} as a generic presidential biography template
- {{Trump businesses}} focusing on Trump's business career in real estate and miscellaneous ventures
- {{Trump family}} about family members, relations and ancestry
- {{Trump media}} grouping Trump's media productions, media appearances and third-party works about Trump
- {{First presidency of Donald Trump}} focusing on the election campaign, transition and presidency
- {{Second presidency of Donald Trump}} focusing on the election campaign, transition and presidency
- {{Trump executive actions}} lists the Trump administration's executive actions, including executive orders and presidential memoranda
Duplication of contents across each of those should be avoided.
There is also a navigation sidebar, {{Donald Trump series}}, which should only include a selection of the most relevant articles.
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse
, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state=
parameter may be used:
{{Donald Trump|state=collapsed}}
will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar.{{Donald Trump|state=expanded}}
will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.
For the navigation sidebar {{Donald Trump series}}, the |state=
parameter has no effect; however, the |expanded=
parameter can have the following values to expand their respective sections on specific pages:
- Business and personal
- 45th and 47th president of the United States
- Tenure
- Policies
- Appointments
- Campaigns
- Impeachments
- Civil and Criminal Prosecutions
- COVID-19
Use of the |expanded=
parameter on this template causes the Business and personal section to collapse automatically. Any other value for the |expanded=
parameter will cause all sections to collapse.
