Signups open for The Core Contest[edit]

The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—will take place this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24.

If you wish to start or stop receiving news about The Core Contest, please add or remove yourself from the delivery list.

See Wikipedia talk:Categorization of people#RfC about WP:COPHERITAGE

WP:FORUMSHOPPING to overturn prior Categories for Discussion results concerning overcategorization by ethnicity. This would change to "at least one" (from zero or one), a major shift for descent and diaspora categories contrary to 18 years of documented guidelines. Most biographies should have zero descent categories, as Wikipedia:Categorization of people#By nationality and occupation are sufficient. Some may have one, but there has never been a documented need for two or more, and certainly never "at least one". It could explode the number of such categories.

Chris Kempczinski[edit]

Hello, WikiProject Biography editors! On behalf of McDonald's, I've submitted a few requests to update the page for president and CEO Chris Kempczinski. In addition to a proposed addition about his current tenure, I've suggested adding mention of his Economic Club of Chicago speech and adding additional text about his tenure as president of McDonald's USA.

Users Crystallizedcarbon and FeldBum have been helpful in updating the article on my behalf, but there are multiple edit requests which remain open and I'm hoping some editors here may be able to help. Thanks for your consideration. MattMcDonalds (talk) 20:04, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Infobox officeholder[edit]

Disregard

Aquabluetesla and I are in disagreement about whether template officeholder should be used for, e.g., deans. See the discussion at Talk:R. Duane Ireland. Input from knowledgeable editors will be appreciated. Thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 08:18, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The officeholder infobox is the only way to list the position of dean in the infobox and this is how it is done on most American university dean articles. I have added an academic infobox module to list what is unable to be listed with the officeholder infobox. I don’t think there is any real issue here. Notice

The article Lester E. Holt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails the notability guideline. Currently cited to two sources: (1) Find a Grave, in contravention of WP:RSP#Find a Grave (2) A hand-waved collection of 30 newspapers, seven of which repeat the same information that amounts to "airplane tester died in crash".

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 14:19, 21 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
