SikTh is a progressive metal/technical metal band from Watford, London. They are signed to independent record label, Bieler Bros. Records.
History
SikTh formed in 2001. Their music has been under the scope of many music magazines such as Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, and is a favourite of BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs. Their style of music, although obviously being extreme music, is beyond classification. It is self-described as 'noisecore', and is often labeled as 'weirdcore'. They have rapidly gained a reputation as being one of the most cutting edge collectives around.
"Energy has always inspired us," says guitarist Dan Weller, "things that really get you pumping. We play extreme music, sure, but only in the sense that we go to all extremes. If something sounds good, then we'll do it, and that includes beautiful, melodic music, which we all love, too."
Many of their songs employ multiple changes in meter, key and time signature to enhance their emotive delivery. For fans of seven-beat time signatures, Where do we fall? explores this and other territory. They have toured with bands such as Machine Head and Pitchshifter.
The Tree's Are Dead & Dried Out Wait For Something Wild
On August 18, 2003 the band released their much anticipated first album The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait For Something Wild on their old record label Gut Records. The Album was produced by Colin Richardson who has worked with bands such as Slipknot and Sepultura.
Death of a Dead Day
The band has finished recording a new album, entitled Death of a Dead Day, and was released on June 26,2006 in the UK after performing at the Download Festival 2006. The Album was released in the U.S. on June 6, 2006. In July the band headlined the Collision Course festival in Bridgend and Yeovil. The band released Flogging The Horses EP on October 2,2006 to support their current headline tour of the UK.
