Micro-Star International (MSI) is a Taiwanese computer and components manufacturer. MSI specializes in the design and manufacture of motherboards, graphics cards, barebone PCs, notebook computers, networking products, servers, multimedia, consumer electronics, and storage devices. It manufactures both ATI and nVidia chipset graphics cards. Some custom personal computer manufacturers such as Alienware and Falcon Northwest have been known to sell PCs equipped with MSI branded motherboards. MSI has been known to produce motherboards which are suitable for overclocking which is popular among hardcore PC gamers. MSI products are sold as retail, OEM parts, or to other corporations.

Scale and service

Recently, MSI began expanding into mainland China to meet the needs of global customers. In the first quarter of 2001, the Baoan Plant in Shenzhen started production, increasing MSI's production output as well as revenue. MSI has also established production facilities and a research and development center in Kunshan, China in June 2003. The motherboard annual production is expected to reach 18 million units while the annual VGA production is expected to reach 9.5 million units. MSI provides a 24/7 multi-language technical customer service and an associated website. It has also established subsidiaries around the world which include Taiwan, mainland China, USA, Germany, France, Holland, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Korea, Poland, Russia, Canada, India and more.

Digital audio players

MSI produces its MEGA line of digital audio players, which play back MP3 and WMA formats amongst a few others. These products range from very cheap players with no internal memory to more expensive models which include some innovations.

In 2006, MSI developed and showcased the first solar powered digital audio player, the MSI MEGA 540, at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.[1]
