Centaurs are a race from greek mythology. They are part human and part horse, with a horse's body and a human head and torso in place of the horse's head and neck.

The centaurs were known to have the knowledge of the stars and were often said to have taught the great heroes of greek mythology. However like all races they had a weakness. Any alcoholic beverage would send them into a frenzy.

There are other hybrid races, like centaurs, that show up in mythology such as the mermaids and the satyrs. Still other hybrids, such as wemics, hybsil, and bariaur can be found in modern fantasy literature and in games, especially role-playing games.

The Centaurs are also a class of icy planetoids that orbit the Sun between Jupiter and Neptune, named after the mythical race.
