Plz do not remove my little tidbit about Oilers fans hatred towards Comrie. I have seen it for myself and it exists. I have read the offhand comments about him being the second most hated man in Oilers history, and have tried to keep it as NPOV as possible. User:Killswitch Engage

The info about Salo's wife is established fact and a quick Google search will confirm this. RfC: Neutrality of edits

I have grave concerns about a set of edits which have been made by an anonymous IP who seems to have attempted to take ownership and enforcement of his particular version, since he says in his edit comment here "try deleting it again and I'm reporting it. It's all cited in a nice little package." He has tried over the last few days to insert these edits without providing cites and he got blocked for that. Now he's reinserted them this time with some cites that do not (in my opinion) back up the text. The IP, of course, thinks otherwise. As a result, I would like some neutral third parties to evaluate them so I can't be accused of bias on the topic. Here are the sections I have especial problems with as I feel they are clear violations of WP:NPOV:

• Lowe was forced by Comrie to offer a contract... Nowhere within the cite given (which is this article) does it say that.
• Comrie threatened to do the same... Not supported by the nearest cite (which is this) as written.
• Lowe would have been heavily criticized by the fans and media in Edmonton Draws a conclusion not supported by the cite, which only backs up the statement "hometown hero"
• Comrie has been regarded as a "selfish and pouty" player since departing Edmonton on the aforementioned poor terms with this as the cite. This is a statement made by an ESPN sports anchor on a blog on the web site. I feel it should noted as as an opinion by this journalist.

• "Lowe was forced by Comrie to offer a contract..." is a personal analysis of of "Since the Edmonton Oilers didn't want to lose Comrie, a highly-rated prospect, in the off-season, the team signed him to a lucrative contract that could pay him up to $3 million US a season".
• "Comrie threatened to do the same..." is an exaggeration of "Comrie also likes the Edmonton style of puck pursuit, but he's in no rush to commit to the Oilers , who have until June 1, 2001, to sign him before he becomes a free agent."
• "Lowe would have been heavily criticized by the fans and media in Edmonton" is personal speculation not supported by the article.

"Comrie has been regarded as a 'selfish and pouty' player" is WP:WEASEL based on hearsay that is a response to an email. It's not the anchor's opinion but it's not solid either. Morbidthoughts (talk) 06:09, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Edit cleanup

Alright. Time to try and neutralize this set of WP:BLP and WP:NPOV issues, which are supported by the comments above. Here's what I'm doing and why:

• Changing "approximately half of the money he earned by hitting a series of low-target bonuses placed by Lowe in Comrie's entry-level contract" to "which was part of the bonus money he earned his entry-level contract" - nothing in the cite given (http://www.hockeyforum.com/ottawa-senators/17095-comrie-once-flyer-has-found-his-niche.html) which states the proportion of the bonus or that they represented low targets.
• Moved the element of his being paid $10 million over three years up to the first paragraph for chronological order.
• Noted immediately after the $10 million that this was well over the rookie maximum and used the SI citation (http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1021271/index.htm) to back it up.
• Deleted the $8 million dollar number. No support for this number at all.
• Removed the paragraph starting with "Lowe was forced by Comrie..." altogether. The neutral parts of it have been used elsewhere and the remainder is not from a neutral point of view.
• Used the Yahoo cite (http://fe38.sports.sp1.yahoo.com/nhl/preview?gid=2004030206) to back up the contract dispute phrase in the first paragraph.
• Replaced "The potential trade to Anaheim came as a result of Comrie refusing to sign a new contract with Edmonton in the summer of 2003[10], after his lucrative rookie contract had expired. It ultimately fell through, as Comrie refused to waive half of the bonus money given to him by Lowe for a trade to Anaheim" with "After the deal fell through" and appended it to the end of the paragraph prior. Much simpler and more neutral.
• Removed the "selfish and pouty" sentence as hearsay and WP:WEASEL.
• Put a {{fact}} tag behind the "Black Goose" goal song sentence. And yes, I know it's not one of User:68.149.137.181's edits, but it still should have a cite.

With that, I also removed the tags from the top of the article since the issues that caused those tags to be put there in the first place are now gone. Tabercil (talk) 01:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
