Wikipedia:Requested pictures
This page is a forum for requesting images from other Wikipedians for Wikipedia articles.
Using this page
Use this page to post requests for images that you would like to be used on a Wikipedia article. Others can then upload the image(s). For comments on policies, other users, technology, and other miscellaneous concerns that are not directly related to posting images, use the Wikipedia:Village Pump.

Copyright Warning
Wikipedia can accept only photographs and pictures that are licensed compatibly with the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) or are in the public domain. Fair use images are sometimes also acceptable. A complete guideline of what is acceptable can be found at Wikipedia:Image use policy.
- The simplest way to ensure that is to make them ourselves and explicitly release them under the GFDL by adding {{GFDL}} to the image description page
- It is also possible to put your own pictures in the public domain by adding '{{PD-release}} to the image page
- Other copyright options and tags can be found at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.
- If you're asking someone else for permission to use their image under the GFDL license, see Request for Permission
Posting a request
Before posting, please do the following steps:
- First try to find an image on your own. For tips, see the Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial
- Avoid blanket requests, as, for example "need pictures for all people in the Lists of people".
- Request images only for existing articles, i.e. if there is no article, then please write an article first before requesting.
- Add the request here if you could not find a picture. Select an appropriate subcategory or add a proper category or subcategory in the alphabetical list. Note that there are separate areas below for photographs and graphics/diagrams. Please copy your request in the edit summary so that recent requests can easily be seen on the page history.
- Link to the article for which you would like to have the picture added, and describe what kind of picture you need. Signing the request is optional.
- Add only one picture request per bullet.
You may also wish to add a image request template, {{reqphoto}}, {{reqmap}}, {{reqdiagram}}, or {{reqimageother}} to the article's talk page, which would then list the article in Category:Wikipedia requested images.
If you need someone to take this photo for you, maybe one of them can do it in meta:Press_Corps by location. You might also ask an appropriate photographer or graphic artist. Many are willing to take requests.
Fulfilling a request
If you want to contribute an image you have taken yourself, either on film or with a digital camera, please make sure it looks optimal. Consider using graphics software such as the GIMP to enhance saturation, contrast, and sharpness (sample tutorial). You do not need to provide a thumbnail image. Please see Wikipedia:Image use policy for more advice on working with images. You can also contribute pictures not taken by you if they are available under a public domain or GFDL license. Other requested images can also be found by viewing Category:Wikipedia requested images, a page with Template:Reqimage, or by viewing Image:No_image_yet, and add images to articles that link to these pages.
- Ensure that the picture is properly licensed as shown in the "Copyright Warning" above
- Upload the Image. If the license so permits, please upload the image to Wikimedia Commons[1] instead so that all the different Wikipedias can use the image.
- Add the proper Image copyright tags and a description to the image description page
- Link the image to the corresponding article. Larger images should be linked as thumbnails. For a good tutorial see Wikipedia:Picture tutorial
- After you add the requested image, remove the request from this page, and the {{Reqimage}} tag from the article.
- You can also add your contribution to Wikipedia:Fulfilled picture requests or list it at Wikipedia:List of images.

- Requesting a picture of a real cantaloupe please. The only current image is that of a musk melon, which is commonly called a cantaloupe in the US, making it impossible to find a picture of a real one using a search online. - Self-parody In my opinion, an artist's parody of his or her own work would be better than a self-portrait in caricature style. JerryFriedman 21:49, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- I couldn't really find a good example of an artist parodying their own work exactly, so instead I added an image of Duchamp's Fountain, a parody by an artist of art itself. I hope it's found appropriate.--Pharos 01:34, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- [Fountain] was never meant to be a parody or art (read the wikipedia page on it). This does not meet the definition of parody, much less self-parody.
- I enjoyed seeing the picture there, but maybe it's time for something that's more exactly relevant. —JerryFriedman 18:28, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Anatomy
I would like to get something like Image:Vulvabigopen2(english).jpg. Other versions of this image have been already deleted due to copyright violation, it's just a question of time, when this one also disappears. The picture was used on many wikis and there is no equivalent image we could use right now. It should depict: clitoral hood, glans clitoris, labia majora, labia minora, opening of the urethra, opening of vagina and remaining hymen. Thank you very much. I understand how difficult it will be to get it. Miraceti 15:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

- PowerBook 100
- PowerBook 5300 or 190
- PowerBook 2400
- PowerBook G3 Series ("Wallstreet"/"Mainstreet")
- There's a reward set for the above. Additionally, a better image for the Power Mac G4 "Graphite" would be much appreciated, but there's no reward for them, sorry ;) -- grm_wnr Esc 19:26, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Commodore 1570 could use an image of this old external Commodore floppy drive. Surely someone must have an old one lying around somewhere they could take a GFDL (or whatever) photo of. Commons seems to only have a couple of the 1541 model. --Sherool (talk) 17:23, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

- Personal computer - Can someone go into their place of work, a university computer lab or a cyber cafe and just take a picture of a whole bank of nice tidy PCs in their natural environment? We always have a rubbish scruffy "modded" home PC as the main picture or some anachronistic glorified calculator from the 1970s. - Hahnchen 11:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Currently, we have a stylised illustration of a PC as the main picture, is this a good thing? I'm sure we can do better. - Hahnchen 22:14, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Someone who has a PC setup like that (with an LCD monitor), and not some fancy case, if you could set it up like in the stylised picture then take a photo, I'm sure that would suffice. --Lorian 22:26, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, it probably would, and have a clean clutter free desk. I'm not sure if the current icon is better or worse than the pictures we have at computer either. With a nice juicy fair use Dell advertisment. - Hahnchen 23:13, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

If anyone knows a Silver Ring Thing kid who would be willing to have a photo taken of their ring, I'd greatly appreciate it. Kevyn 23:04, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Everyday objects
- rayon Some super-close-up photos or maybe even diagrams showing the weave and texture would be great.
- Stapler This page could use a shot of a saddle stapler (maybe shots of both manual and electric versions). Saddle staplers are used for stapling brochures, putting the staple in the center of a piece of paper. A long-reach stapler would also be nice.

A pic of a "champagne"- or "cognac"-colored diamond would also be nice. These pics could be reused at Diamond (a featured article) and elsewhere. Thanks! - Bantman 17:39, August 15, 2005 (UTC)
- I added a picture of pink diamonds from the GIA website. My company owns plenty of pink diamonds but I don't think I'm allowed to release photographs of them! They are really beautiful. Same with cognac and champagne diamonds. Pictures don't truly do them justice.--Magmagirl 21:31, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

If someone has either SVGs of those elements of the insignia (the eagle, etc.), could upload a raster source of sufficient resolution or could direct me toward the same, I'd appreciate it. --Carl (talk|contribs) 03:43, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

A fuller set of requests for photographs of places is sorted by location under Category:Wikipedia requested photographs. Articles can be placed in these subcategories by using {{reqphotoin}} and {{reqphotoin2}} in their talk pages. If more details need to be given or the request is seen as particularly important, the appropriate subcategory page can be edited too. If you have a camera, why not add the subcategory for your local area to your watchlist, and see if anywhere near you gets listed?

Hong Kong's Kai Tak airports had one of the most unique approaches skimming over heavily built up residential areas, it'd be nice to have it recorded in pictorial form. 25143 Itokawa has no image. Something was there previously, but then deleted. Now that the spacecraft has come and gone, its many images (and data) could significantly improve the article. Their image use policy is here:[13] I don't see any problems, but the previous images were deleted. This really is important, as only a handful of small bodies have ever been imaged in detail, and missing one of them doesn't make the article informative. (It is, after all, about the asteroid.)--Planetary 01:36, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately the license is only free for noncommercial use, which is not enough for Wikipedia. Unless you can persuade the JAXA to release an image under the GFDL, I think the NASA radar image is the best we can do. We can always still link to the JAXA images, of course. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 19:17, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- What about fair use? Could that be a possibility or not? --Planetary 22:41, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Given the free availability of the NASA image, I would assume not. -- Sakurambo 桜ん坊 11:16, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- That image isn't even being used on the Itokawa page. It's an "orphan". Oh, and 1 question. Why do other websites use the Itokawa images? I don't see any permission granted on these sites[14] They just put "Credit: ISAS/JAXA", or nothing at all, and get away with it! I don't understand! --Planetary 22:50, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- First you should read the image use guidelines at the www.jaxa.jp website, which you mentioned yourself at the beginning of this thread. Then familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's image use policy and fair use guidelines. As Ilmari Karonen said, the license is only free for noncommercial use. This is not enough for Wikipedia. -- Sakurambo 桜ん坊 10:38, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, okay. No JAXA images, then. Except those found on NASA's website. I see there are a few illustrations of JAXA's spacecraft, which are to be found there. --Planetary 23:59, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Flags & Heraldry
- Royal Standard of Norway needs and image of the pennant flag.
- Conch Republic: Coat of arms of the Conch Republic. On website only in outline, untricked and -hatched. Who knows the tinctures or blazon?
- I would blazon it "On a roundel, sable, a compass rose of twelve, or voided azure, environed of twelve mullets, argent; over all, a conch shell, proper. The motto 'THE CONCH REPUBLIC' above, and 'We seceded where others failed' below" -- but it has been decades since I wore the herald's baldric. ➥the Epopt 17:28, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- If you're talking about that round seal of theirs, you can see a colour version on the official polo shirt < fetches own from bedroom > - it's definitely a heurte (roundel azure). Let's see... 'On a heurte, a compass rose of twelve within a roundel of mullets Or, overall a king conch proper...' and then Epopt's motto terminology.
Incidentally, the original flag which inspired the flag of the Republic is on display at the official Conch store on Duval. It's a ship flag dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. If I'd known, I'd've taken notes! *grin* -- HL Tanarian Brenaur ferch Owain fab Bran, Trimaris (Corgi 02:02, 24 October 2005 (UTC))

- IANAL, but this appears to be a copyrighted logo. We can use it on the basis of fair use if the original low-resolution image is included in an article exclusively about Ottawa Montessori School. But we don't have any such articles at present (Ottawa Montessori School redirects to List of schools in Ottawa). Also, any high-resolution or vectorized versions made here would count as derivative works, so I don't think it would actually be legal to produce them without permission. The same probably applies to the Spctbadge logo above. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. -- Sakurambo 桜ん坊 14:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

- Thank you very much for your work! I think the picture is good enough. Good color scheme. Just some very minor nitpicking (if you make similar pictures in the future): In the first case, it might not be clear that there's no intersection. Also, in the second case, the point could be emphasized. But, as I said, that is just nitpicking. The idea should be clear from the pictures. Haseldon 15:53, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

- Prewellordering: need pics for Reduction and Separation properties. For the latter I don't really want an analogue of Moschovakis' Figure 4B1; I'd rather have one that shows separation of two disjoint sets in Γ. --Trovatore 18:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- Riemann sphere needs a drawing for the version being fermented in the discussion page. It should show a sphere, the top tangent plane (or both if it would be better), and a projection or two from the south pole through the sphere onto the top plane. It should clearly be shown that the point on the plane corresponds to the point on the sphere that lies on the same line. Also, the top plane should be labelled as the plane. -- Domenic Denicola 01:11, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
