Looks great (man thats alot of edits!) Only thing was I had to stick in that (when I finally get around to putting on cladogram of Mast et. al.) is that Dryandra and Isostylis are on different 'arms', thus are not particularly closely related - but 'tis all good. :)Cas Liber 04:25, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to use them but since authors invariably sign a copyright transfer as a condition of publication, copyright on the figures is almost certainly held by the American Journal of Botany rather than Mast. Snottygobble 05:32, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

references-small

There is no obligation to make footnotes small (or it would be an automatic part of the mark up). Feel free to revert me. Any sections added after a "small-ed" footnotes section should return to normal size. Circeus 05:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I was mistaken here, some wikipedians will use class="references-small" for reference lists too, although I personally only use it for footnotes. Circeus 03:51, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References

I'd like to see Wikipedia become credible. If I see an article that's got a lot of content, claiming a lot of things, demanding references is a wise thing to do. I even add the notice to my own creations to remind me to go back and add references hoping to raise the article quality a notch higher. Nobody has ever argued about "my style", and I think if they did, it's easily pointed out that the article usually goes nowhere unless references are added. References sure save a lot of bother before it ever begins. Try it. Spread the word. It can only improve things around the place. -- Longhair 06:49, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As always not to hand. My late mum was one of the hills persons working on it. The 'old gang' of the RAOU who worked on it are all dead now - or close to, and it's a pity the art is focused on the new edition, as to start about 1st ed, and the RAOU would place it in a better historical context - for a start the level of computerisation compared to all the hand notes that theey had to deal with! Done. Not much to do: some style and nitpicky edits (e.g. where to use nbsps, link first occurences...). Removed a list of co-occuring specie sthat did not belong, and left somecomments in the source. Also, notes about jargon needing to be adressed are on the talk page. Oh, and whilenot by any a requirement for GA, beefing up the intro would be nice, intros are, ideally, a summary of the article, so adding a sentence or to summarize each sections would be a real improvement. Circeus 02:55, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have adjusted the naming in the article to the format taxa(common), I would say this is ready for WP:GA, dont think PR will offer anything. See what GA brings but this might be a good article for us to take to FA before taking Banksia Gnangarra 10:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Umm..sounds good to me :)Cas Liber 11:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the links, I'm at home no special accesses all worked fine for me. Also as size isnt a criteria for FA I would like to take a run with this article. Just to let you all know that there are controversial discussions taking place on about the importance of GA vs FA. I kinda tangled up in the middle of them, I'm actually wanting to confront the size issue in FA but I need a solid article that can stand the scrutiny of the FA process. If this is a concern to you guys I'm happy for it not to go to FA. All that known I still think that the article should achieve FA status. Gnangarra 02:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's definately a good article, I think to get it through FAC easily you need to play up why the species is interesting - rather that just a boring plant. In my opinion to do that you'd probably need to emphasise its rarity a bit more, conservation measures and plans, barriers to increasing the number of plants and so on - it probably wouldn't be a big addition of text, just strategic adjustments. There is no standard template for plant articles, but personally I prefer to have the taxonomy information sooner rather than later, Ragwort - the old Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants suggested article - has it following the description. --Peta 02:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

well it looks like it already has one now --Astrokey44 04:44, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just reworded the description section, I remove the 4 meter hight such that it now normally grows 1-2m up to 6 in gulleys. I also altered the opening words onthe sentences about leaves. I think this reads a lot less chunky now. Gnangarra 03:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok its been nominated for GA, take about 8-10 days to reviewed. Gnangarra 06:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WA history

Hi do you know anything about the Emu War, or where I could find out more about it? Also in a vaguely realted vein is this article at the right name? Murchison region of Western Australia.--Peta 11:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find anything about it on JSTOR or informit, it's not vital and I've been as vague as possible in the Emu article - but it'd be nice to confirm some details for the sister article. I will probably take it to FAC next week. Animal artilces are nice and easy - and luckily Australia has a lot of neat animals. I don't suppose you'd want to collabotate on Flora of Australia to get something like the fauna article and the natural history article I have started. I have got the books out on several occasions only to freak out at the size of the undertaking and taken them back again.--Peta 12:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've put a mock up of a structure for the flora article in my sandbox let me know what you think - I'll probably work on it in small chunks in the main namespace, just using the sandbox for planning. I would be doing any real work on it til next week.--Peta 09:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

n dashes

Hi, thx for you message. I don't seem to be up-to-date on html en dashes. I can see the table at the top of dash, and the html code that I've been using looks to be the simplest. For some reason, em dashes work just fine as a character alone, using my computer. It would be great to use a single keystroke for the en dash, too. Tony 01:52, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; that sounds like Windows. I use keystroke en dashes all the time (Option-hyphen), but on WP they won't work. Em dashes do work.
PS Thanks, I've just tried the keystroke en dash, and lo and behold, it does work; it usen't to work. GREAT! Tony 02:19, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
