LGBT articles up for collaboration votes

Since the issues come up fairly often at CFD, with sometimes wildly different decision, there is now a posted policy at Wikipedia:Categorization/Gender, race and sexuality.

Articles with disputes

AlexR is correct that there is a dispute. I would like to add that up until very recently when AlexR added it to cisgender a search on google of ciswoman site:en.wikipedia.org produced a find for only Voice feminization or conversations related to Voice Feminization which is why the description toggles between ciswoman and woman. Resolved disputes

  • Jami A number of editors, who all share a common characteristic, are attempting to prevent proper documentation of pederastic themes in the thought and opus of this Persian writer and mystic in particular, and - in general - of any and all Persian artists whose opus reflects in some way the cultural realities of the pederastic tradition in pre-modern Persia. Modern mainstream scholarship, both Western and Iranian is summarily dismissed as "opinion," with no material presented to argue against the citations or against the clearly pederastic topos of the artist's works cited. Haiduc 01:41, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pederasty - user with opinions at work on the article, plus has ethnic bias for protecting Persians ancestors from unseemly associations. Haiduc 05:51, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Saint John Bosco Several historians have discussed Giovanni Bosco's work with boys as a manifestation of his sublimated homoerotic inclinations. The matter has been discussed on the talk page of the article and a moderated version of the original inclusion has been largely agreed to by one other user, but a spoiler resists any analysis: "Take it elsewhere, but it doesn't belong on this page." Haiduc 23:52, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Twink (gay slang): 68.110 has turned his attention to this article which he wants linked to Child grooming and Ephebophilia (attraction to post-pubescent adolescents). He seems determined to revert war over it. David | Talk 17:19, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell This article included a proportionate discussion of widely accepted research documenting evidence indicating the founder of the Boy Scouts to have been a repressed homosexual with a distinct - but chaste - interest in boys. The section had been there for about one year, supported by several editors. Recently, a number of brand new accounts, all with ostensible links to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization with a declared anti-homosexual agenda, have descended on all articles in the Wikipedia involving Scouting and are re-fshioning them to their liking. They have strong-armed the removal and banishment of the embarrassing information about their founder to a page dedicated to the "review" of the authoritative biography of Baden-Powell, leaving in the article a misleading paragraph as a link to that "review". It is of note that none of the BSA contributors to the discussion have read the book, while the two older editors supporting the inclusion of the information have read it. Haiduc 21:07, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pederasty in Ancient Greece User with peculiar view of Greek practices ("You need read Phaedrus and Symposium in original Greek, there is NOTHING homosexual in those works. And you talk of chaste pederasty are you crazy?") keeps slapping "Disputed" tag on article. Haiduc 01:04, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Talk:North American Man/Boy Love Association Poll: Should the article North American Man/Boy Love Association be listed under Category:LGBT organizations? Vote here. Homey 22:17, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I might remind everyone to vote with their mind and not just knee-jerk with a "no" because the idea of pedophilia disgusts you. The question is whether NAMBLA is a homosexual organization. NAMBLA is an organization which promotes sex between males, that is, homosexual sex, and is composed of gay pedophiles. // paroxysm (n) 22:28, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This article is currently under mediation. —Guanaco 00:31, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Some more homophobia in Talk:NAMBLA. Seems to be coming to a consensus, but worth keeping an eye on… — OwenBlacker 14:19, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Homoerotic art is being arbitrarily redefined as hetero-erotic and deleted from articles on Köçek and Pederasty. Also, the Peter Lamborn Wilson article has just been categorized in Category:Pedophilia. All of these issues relate to age-structured homosexuality. Haiduc 22:46, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pederasty in the modern world Trying to avoid a tug of war with another editor. A third (or fourth or fifth) opinion would be very welcome. Haiduc 01:24, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Batman again. A motivated user ("the gay thing is ofending" and "don't spoil this one for us") first deleted all references to a gay reading of the comic, and then changed tack and went on a full scale "pedophilia" assault. He has belabored the article beyond recognition at his point, perhaps to make reverts awkward. Haiduc 04:40, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is Westboro Baptist Church a "cult"? Guanaco 03:02, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Why do you ask? Did it say that in the article at some point? I don't think it is ever appropriate for a Wikipedia article to state, "X is a cult," since cult has become an inherently negative term. It's certainly legitimate to say, "Group A claims that X is a cult," though. Is there a specific part of the WBC article that needs attention? - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 02:47, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just complexly confused and became more so by reading the article. What does a person's gender identity have to do with their affectional preference? Maybe I missed something? CyntWorkStuff 19:06, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wikipedia:Wikiproject LGBT studies has been started to focus on specific LGBT/Queer-topic articles of academic interest. Please feel free to join in on this project. Our goals: the LGBT articles in this project will be feature articles when we are through with them. Also, we will identify information that may be more appropriate in other Wikimedia projects (Textbooks, lists of Quotes) in order to beef up the academic quality of Wikimedia LGBTQI offerings.
