The Afghanistan national football team is the national team of Afghanistan and is controlled by the Football Federation of Afghanistan.The national team was founded in 1933 and joined FIFA in 1948. The Afghanistan national team play their home games in Ghazi National Olympic Stadium which was built in the 1920s with capacity of over 55,000. The Afghan national football team is also known as Team Melli. Afghanistan are currently ranked 173, their highest rank ever since rejoining FIFA in January 2003 after being the last country in FIFA World Rankings (204th). Having the lowest rate of football players in the world Afghanistan team has battled their way out to reached this positive position in the FIFA World Rankings. [1]
