Murgitroyd is a global intellectual property firm that specialises in the provision of services in the patent, trade mark, design and copyright fields. The firm was established in 1975 and provides a range of IP services across a variety of public and private sector organisations including multinationals, small and medium sized enterprises, universities and research organisations, start-ups and spin-outs. The clients are from a variety of commercial sectors including Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, ICT and Energy. Murgitroyd currently has 17 offices worldwide and over 260 employees.
Murgitroyd Group PLC (MUR), the holding company of Murgitroyd & Company, floated on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in November 2001.[1]
Murgitroyd is the sponsor of Murgitroyd Twenty20 cricket event, and Revive MS[2]
History
Murgitroyd is a private limited company originally founded as a sole practitioner practice in Glasgow, Scotland in 1975 by Ian Murgitroyd. The firm became a partnership in 1977 and it was then incorporated in 1993. Furthermore, this standalone public limited company is 100% owned by Murgitroyd Group PLC. Ian Murgitroyd is the current Chairman of Murgitroyd and his son, Edward, is now the CEO of the firm.[3]
Offices
Murgitroyd has 14 offices throughout Europe — in the UK, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland — and direct representation rights in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Luxemburg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Furthermore, the firm also has two client liaison offices in the United States and Nicaragua, after acquiring a takeover deal in June, 2016[4]
