American
Can't we just call him "an American actor"? - Woodrow 02:37, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Article movement
This really should be at The Rock or The Rock (actor) or The Rock (entertainer). RickK 04:35, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I don't understand why this was changed from his name to The Rock (entertainer). Seems like a pointless change, since his name IS Dwayne Johnson. Eric42 00:33, 25 May 2004 (UTC)
- I also think the move was pointless as he seems to be using his legal name more often for his movie career. --Gerald Farinas 19:00, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Hawaii
What is The Rock's connection with Hawaii? I've heard it on WWE TV before, and he's on the List of famous people from Hawaii but this article makes no mention of Hawaii at all. He wasn't born there, apparently. I always thought he was "from" Miami, but I suppose he just went to school there. Did he live in Hawaii for a stretch? --Feitclub 00:55, Apr 13, 2005 (UTC)
- He was in Miami for college. He lived in Hawaii for a large stretch of his life. Important Hawaii references have been added to the article, pieced together from various articles printed in the Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Star-Bulletin and comments made on television interviews. --Gerald Farinas 18:57, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
DDT
"layeth the smacketh down" - The floatover DDT was identified as this throughout late-1999. I believe it's also the term used in the playstation games.

Question on early stage names
A user from the Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous asked:
Hi,
Just wanna know why The Rock (entertainer) used Pidlaoan Rock as one of his stage names?
Thanks.
While the article notes that he used the name, it is silent on why. Thanks if you can help answer the question. Regards.

Birthplace
IMDB[1] and a recent Yahoo! caption[2] both described him as being from New Zealand. Here he is from California. Yahoo! itself says he is from Miami.[3] Which is correct? Stombs 21:10, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
He basically moved all around the world. He was born in California, and lived in Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Florida, etc.
The Rock's Stats
According to Dwayne himself, he is now "235" lbs. I do not believe he is actually 6'5". When he played football, he was listed as 6'4.5". Can anyone verify his real height? Just wondering. . .
- I imagine WWE (or Johnson himself) just rounds the number up. Six feet, five inches sounds less awkward than six feet, four and a half inches. Jeff Silvers 04:14, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Please see www.celebheights.com, he's actually about 6' 3.5"
Re: Are we using his real height/weight or his billed height/weight? Because he's billed as 6'5" 255 lbs
Legit stats.(Halbared 23:10, 10 June 2006 (UTC))
WCW/"World" Title reigns
Granted the whole issue of "is the World Heavyweight Title belt really the WCW World Heavyweight Title belt?" is subject to all sorts of ambiguity. But when The Rock won the title back from Chris Jericho in November of '01, the inVasion angle was still going on, and the belt was still recognized as being the WCW World Title belt.
The Rock was the WCW Champion at Survivor Series, and the night after Survivor Series, Vince McMahon announced that the WCW Championship would have its name changed to the World Title. But Rock won it as the WCW Title, and allegedly this "World" Title is not of the same lineage as the current-day World Heavyweight Championship.
So, shouldn't The Rock be recognized as a 2-time WCW Champion? ekedolphin 09:52, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
LOST?
This is just a crazy rumor. Where's the evidence?--207.69.137.204 18:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Race
The Rock's father is black/African-American and the Rock has said on numerous occaions(including his book)that he is black/African-American, so shouldn't he be listed under African-American Professional Wrestlers? joe99 MD
I thought the Rock was black! Why isn't his name listed under African-American wrestlers like his dad? Lawboy1906 14:17, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
The Rock has said numerous time that he is African-American AND samoan. He should be listed as BOTH. His father is Rocky Johnson one half of the first African-American WWF/E tag champs and his mother is the daughter of High Chief Peter Maivia. He even describes growing up as a black male in America in his book "The Rock Says." The individuals claiming that he isn't African-Amerian are mistaken. Vince McMahon even called Rock the first African-American Champ on Raw the night after he won the title for the first time.WWE 4 life 14:56, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Wrestling
Who here would wager that he will never step in a ring to wrestle again? We all know he will do the occasional apperance and run in, but have we seen his last match? Basbalfrk 00:37, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
I heard in an interview that he was interested in having a match at Summerslam 2007.. Mr. Papaya 13:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
2007?! I hope you meant 2006 cause it seems odd he would choose a specific event over a year away. Basbalfrk 23:04, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
Summerslam 2007 is scheduled for Madison Square Garden. I would imagine that would be a motivating factor for The Rock to finally return to New York City. 66.194.253.225 12:14, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
The reason WWE let him do films is beause its good for the company
- 'Let him'? The WWE has no say in what Mr Johnson does.(Halbared 18:22, 4 July 2006 (UTC))
- They did while he was still under contract, such as when he did "The Scorpion King." --Chrysaor 23:44, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
I doubt he's never coming back. The only reason he's still doing movies is because he gets more success, meaning that he will probably come back only he's filming career is wanning down. So we still gotta see for sure.
Surname
Dwayne Johnson? Rocky's real name was Bowles. How does this work.
- Rocky may have gotten his name legally changed. Katie 01:59, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Slight Vandalism
Someone had edited the page so that Chris Jericho's name was preceded by Y2Gay, under 7th and Final championship. This was fixed.
Doom Salary
is the salary for Doom listed correctly? it seems hard to believe that he would have been paid less for that role that his others. I could very well be wrong, but I'm curious. Katie 01:59, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Starring Roles
According to multiple sources, he starred in the movie. On top of that, the wikipedia article says: "In 2005, The Rock saw more exposure on the big screen as he starred alongside John Travolta and Uma Thurman in Be Cool..." (emphasis mine). So, either he did or he didn't, but in the end it needs to be internally consistent.
I tend to think he did star in it (his role was big, he has established his stardom from previous lead roles). Therefore, I put it in. ju66l3r 20:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Be Cool
I made some grammatical clarifications. If there is any problem with this, please discuss how editing a few sentences to make the meaning more clear is some sort or problem.
Done with wrestling?
has he retired or does he have a legends contract or what?! Big foot123456789 8:52, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I've heard that he's completely done with it. Whether or not it's actually completely factual right now though is anybody's guess. There's always rumors around this time of year, when WrestleMania is being thought out, about bringing him back to work some sort of angle for WrestleMania. If his movies continue to flop like fish out of water at the box office, he might eventually make a full time return to wrestling. Who knows. Odin's Beard 01:01, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
The Matthew Barnard Show
"The Matthew Barnard Show" is listed among his credits. I can find no information on the web to support that this is an actual show. This seems to be vandalism since dozens of big stars are listed as being on a show that doesn't seem to exist.
Section: The Rock returns
This recently added piece needs to be cleaned up.
On September 23, 2006, the New York Times interviewed The Rock. They asked him if he will return to the wrestling scene. The Rock did not reply. how ever it is most likely he will continue with his acting...,seems The Rock would never go back to WWE,it can be see on IGN Interview, this words from IGN.com,when they interview him IGN Sports: When you see big events like Wrestlemania, do you ever get the itch to go back to wrestling?
The Rock: Not necessarily. I get excited for those guys because I know what it's like. I get excited for my boys. Between Kurt Angle and John Cena and Rey Mysterio, all those cats. I don't get the itch to go back as much as when I watch the show, I get antsy and frustrated at a lot of things I see. I'm like, damn, I wish they would've said this, or I wish they would've done this, or I wish this dude would've said this in response to that. Other than that, I'm good. They had asked me to be a part of Wrestlemania but I couldn't because of the timing of a movie. Besides, if I go back, it has got to make sense. It has to be someone who it makes sense with.#

The Rock's Acting
Why do alot of people say the rock's acting is horrible and that he is the worst actor?
