Aniruddhacharya (born 27 September 1989), born Aniruddh Ram Tiwari, is an Indian spiritual teacher and religious orator. He is known for delivering discourses based on Hindu scriptures, particularly the Bhagavata Purana. He is the founder of the Gauri Gopal Ashram in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, which operates charitable services including elder care, food distribution, and animal welfare. His public engagements and online presence have contributed to his popularity.
Early life and family
[edit]Aniruddhacharya was born on 27 September 1989 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. His father was a Hindu priest.[2][3] He is married to Arti Tiwari and has two sons.[1]
Career
[edit]Aniruddhacharya delivers religious discourses across India, particularly focused on the Bhagavata Purana and related Hindu scriptures.[4][5] His Gauri Gopal Ashram also supports community services such as cow protection, an old-age home, and educational programs.[6]
Media appearances
[edit]- He appeared as a guest on the reality television show Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment in 2024.[7]
- He declined an offer to participate in Bigg Boss 18, citing that the format did not align with his personal values.[8][9]
- He later appeared as a guest during the premiere episode of the show, where he presented a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to host Salman Khan.[10]
Awards and recognition
[edit]- In 2023, Aniruddhacharya was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the World Book of Records at the British Parliament for high online viewership of his spiritual discourses.[11][6]
Public image and controversies
[edit]Aniruddhacharya has faced public criticism for controversial remarks. In 2024, he issued an apology following backlash over a statement involving Lord Shiva.[12] He has also been criticized for comments regarding clothing and sexual violence.[13][14] He has also been the subject of internet memes, particularly for his remarks on topics such as food and daily habits.[15][16][17]
Social service initiatives
[edit]Through the Shri Gau Gauri Gopal Seva Sansthan Samiti in Vrindavan, Aniruddhacharya is involved in several community welfare programs. These include the Gauri Gopal Vriddh Ashram, which provides free accommodation and care for elderly individuals without family support,[18] and a charitable kitchen (Annakṣetra) that distributes free meals.[19] The organization also operates a cow shelter and conducts feeding programs for monkeys in the Vrindavan area.[20]
