Anna Margareta Erat is a Finnish-Swiss medical doctor and healthcare leader specializing in internal medicine, sports medicine, preventive health, and longevity. She has made contributions to medical research, education, and clinical practice, particularly in the care of elite athletes and the advancement of preventive medicine.

Education

Erat completed her medical studies at the University of Zurich Medical School in Switzerland and at Harvard Medical School in the United States in 2007.[1] After graduating, she conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School in biomedicine and genetics from 2008 to 2009. She received a PhD in epidemiology and health systems management from the University of Basel (Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute) in 2011.[2]

Clinical practice

Erat's career encompasses clinical practice, research, and leadership roles in healthcare. Specialising in internal and sports medicine, Erat has provided medical care to top athletes, including national ice hockey team players, Formula 1 drivers, and world-class Ironman triathletes.[3]

She has served as the Chief of Strategy for Prevention and Longevity in the Hirslanden Group and as Chief Physician at the Hirslanden Check-Up Center.[4] Dr. Erat was also the first female medical director in the history of the Hirslanden Clinic.[5]

Academic contributions

Erat has been a clinical lecturer at the University of Zurich and is currently part of the faculty of the University of St. Gallen Executive School.[6] She regularly publishes in scientific and medical journals and holds board roles in organizations related to digital health and medical technology.

Public engagement

Erat is a sought-after speaker, delivering presentations on topics such as performance, resilience, preventive medicine, and longevity. She has been invited to TV programs as an expert and has produced a podcast with Hintsa Performance on performance and resilience.[7]

Personal life

Privately, Anna Erat is an avid alpine skier, having been a competitive athlete and ski instructor in St. Moritz.[3] As an athlete she was elected to the board of the International Monobob Club in St. Moritz.[8] During the summers, she sails on Quant23 foiling boats.[9]
