Arc Manor is a small press based in Rockville, Maryland best known for publishing genre fiction, primarily, science fiction and fantasy. In addition to publishing novels, short story collections and anthologies, Arc Manor also published Galaxy's Edge magazine created by five-time Hugo Award winner Mike Resnick from 2013 to 2023. Since 2020, most original speculative work is published under the Caezik SF and Fantasy imprint. The press does publish a limited number of books outside the speculative fiction genre, under imprints like Caezik Academic and Caezik Romance. Reprints of previously published works are published primarily through Arc Manor's Phoenix Pick imprint.
History
[edit]Arc Manor was founded in 2006 by Shahid Mahmud. The press has released more than 500 books. Arc Manor's original publications consisted primarily of new editions of classic titles (primarily in the public domain) in the then emerging print-on-demand (POD) format. In 2008, Arc Manor reprinted Paul Cook's The Engines of Dawn under the newly created imprint Phoenix Pick which specialized in republishing out of print speculative fiction works under exclusive contract with the authors.
In 2011, the press launched The Stellar Guild series with Mike Resnick as the series editor. The series paired well known authors with new authors the veteran’s wished to promote, each writing a story in a shared universe. Participating authors in the series included Kevin J. Anderson, Eric Flint, Larry Niven, Nancy Kress and Robert Silverberg.
The magazine ceased operation after it's 62nd issue published in May 2023.
In March 2020, Arc Manor launched it's Caezik SF & Fantasy imprint with the issue of Robert A. Heinlein's The Pursuit of the Pankera, a new novel by the master from a rediscovered manuscript (originally titled six-six-six).[1] Caezik is traditionally distributed via Consortium, a full service distribution company owned by Ingram Content Group.
Arc Manor is a co-sponsor of The Mike Resnick Memorial Award in partnership with Dragon Con.[2] The award is given out annually at the Dragon Awards Ceremony.
