Ben Redshaw (born 10 January 2005) is an English rugby union player who played for Newcastle Falcons in the Premiership.[1] He signed for Gloucester Rugby ahead of the 2025/26 season.[2]
Club career
[edit]Born in Leeds, he began his career at local side West Park Leeds RUFC before joining the Newcastle Falcons Academy at 14.[3] He joined the senior Academy in 2023 after completing his studies at Sedbergh School,[4] where he also played rugby, signing a two-year contract.[5][6] He made his debut for Newcastle coming off the bench against Bedford Blues on the 15 September 2023, before making his first start a week later in a win over Sale Sharks in the Premiership Rugby Cup.[7] His first league start coming in the first round of the 2023/24 Premiership in a loss against Bath.[8]
He has also represented Tyndale RFC, debuting off the bench against Otley RUFC.[9]
On 22 April 2025, Redshaw would leave Newcastle to join Premiership rivals Gloucester ahead of the 2025-26 season.[10]
International career
[edit]Redshaw played for England under-18s through two Six Nations campaigns and a tour to South Africa, captaining the side on numerous occasions.[11][12][13][14] Before being called up to play for England under-19s featuring in a narrow loss against Italy.[15][16] During the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Redshaw went to France to spend a week training with the England senior squad.[3]
He made his debut for England under-20s playing in a warm up match against Bath Academy ahead of the 2024 Six Nations.[17]
He was part of the England Under-20s side that won both the 2024 Six Nations Under 20s Championship and the 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship, playing alongside Henry Pollock.[18]
