Bill 47, known as the Fair Trade in Canada (Internal Trade Mutual Recognition) Act and Amendments to The Commemoration of Days, Weeks and Months Act (Buy Manitoba, Buy Canadian Day) is an act of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba.

Provisions

[edit]

The legislation requires that goods and services from other provinces and territories must be recognized as if they were certified in Manitoba assuming the other province or territory has a reciprocal policy.[1] The legislation does not apply to goods and services from a Crown corporation.[2]

The act establishes June 1 as "Buy Manitoba, Buy Canadian Day".[3]

Reception

[edit]

The legislation was supported by the provincial Progressive Conservatives.[4]

The Business Council of Manitoba described the legislation as a "very positive first step".[5]
