Calcination
Appearance
Calcination is a process where a chemical compound is heated to high temperatures while exposed to air.[1] Calcination is a type of thermal decomposition.
The name "calcination" comes from the Latin word "calcinare", meaning "to burn limestone". Production of quicklime by calcination is one of the oldest known chemical reactions.[source?]
