History

[edit]

Chowly was founded in 2015 by Sterling Douglass and Justin McNally. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2019, the company raised $5.8 million in a Series A funding round led by MATH Venture Partners, with participation from Valor Equity Partners, Chicago Ventures, and Hyde Park Venture Partners.[5][6][7]

In 2023, Chowly acquired Koala, a guest ordering platform.[8][9] In 2024, it acquired Targetable, a marketing software company.[10][11]

In 2025, Chowly launched a software platform that integrates ordering, pricing, analytics, and marketing tools.[3][12] Industry media noted the platform for consolidating previously separate tools into a single operating system for restaurant operators, simplifying the management of third-party marketplaces, online ordering, and marketing efforts.[1][13]
