How to make a request

Make sure you are posting in the section for the right you want.

Copy the following and add it to the end of the text-area:

Replace the word "reason" with an explanation of why you need the right, based on the relevant guideline: the rollback guideline, renaming guideline or the patroller guideline.
Press Publish changes.

If your request has remained unanswered for several days, consider personally asking an administrator.
Administrators, please welcome users granted a new right with an appropriate message.
When requesting rights that need support by the community (e.g. administrator) please go to Commons:Requests and votes!

If you request the rollback-right, please read the how-to first.

Admins and anyone with global rollback don't need to request rollback. License reviewers don't have to request the patrol flag.

I'm unable to overwrite most of files. Since I have been uploading new revised versions (sources apply per COM:OVERWRITE) for logos, maps, etc. I also have been uploading flags that are optimized, controversially. I frequently upload photos. Sometimes I misname the file names and only notice that after uploading. As an autopatroller, I could correct incorrect file names immediately and no longer have to submit requests to move them. Thank you. Dromedar61 (talk) 13:05, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think it could still be useful in the future if I make other such mistakes. Also, I have many pages on my watchlist and sometimes I see vandalism to structured data. I don't know how to revert several edits to structured ddata easily but I saw done with rollback.

@Incall: To help with edit requests, basically. I also noticed requesting users often don't even know how to code the requested change, having the few template editors do all the work for them, and I just happen to have a little experience, some free time and a pinch of good will. I would like to request the filemover right because I want to help more on Commons, and it seems to me that the filemover right would be a great way to do that. I know I have barely made any rename requests, but I have read the guideline well and properly- if rejected, then someone suggest where it might be easy to find files needing renaming? Also most of my uploads were very early, so I just uploaded them with their name from flickr- I now know that I should chosen way more informative names for them. Thank you. I'm making RR's for some of my flickr uploads right now(maybe I should do it for all of them, but they are many, and most are unlikely to be used).
