A cowbell is a metal bell that is hung around the necks of cows in some rural areas of the world such as Europe, South America. They are used to be able to find the cows easily.

Cowbells have cemented themselves in popular culture in due part to their usage in sporting events and popularized in media such as the "More Cowbell" skit filmed and published by Saturday Night Live which featured actors such as Will Ferrell, Christopher Walken, and Jimmy Fallon.
