Meteorological synopsis

[edit]

The Storm Prediction Center issued a tornado watch over much of southern Indiana and western Kentucky as a strong upper-level trough was set to move northeastward across the Ohio Valley. A cold front accompanied by a gravity wave was expected to move towards a moist airmass[1] with surface dewpoints in the lower 70s Fahrenheit and favorable shear,[2] with isolated supercells forming ahead of storms expected to form a line or small bowing segments as they developed.[1]
