24 Hour Sunset is a documentary film released in 2023, co-directed by Édouard de Luze and Charles Derenne. The film premiered on Canal+ in France on 28 February 2024 and was later released internationally via Apple TV and iTunes.
Synopsis
[edit]24 Hour Sunset follows a 24-hour cycle in Los Angeles, visiting artists in their studios, attending gallery openings, and observing urban and nocturnal environments. The filmmakers employ an impressionistic approach, focusing on visual and auditory textures rather than a linear narrative structure.[1]

It later screened at the Wönzimer Gallery in Los Angeles. The film became available on Canal+ in France and globally via Apple TV and iTunes from late February 2024.[3]
Reception
[edit]Critical response noted the film’s aesthetic and experiential qualities. *Communication Arts* commented on its opening sequence, describing it as "a love letter to the Los Angeles art scene."[4] The French outlet *Oniriq* described the film as "a poetic and hypnotic drift" through the perspectives of Los Angeles artists.[5]
