42irbid is a tuition-free, peer-to-peer coding school located in Irbid, Jordan. It is part of the global 42 Network, an international initiative to promote accessible computer programming education. The school follows a project-based curriculum and is open to students regardless of their prior academic or technical background.[1].
History
[edit]The launch of 42irbid was announced in 2022 as a collaborative initiative between the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan. The initiative aims to enhance digital skills among Jordanian youth and align education with the demands of the modern job market.[2]
In support of the project, the Zain Group partnered with the Crown Prince Foundation to fund the program and provide technological infrastructure.[3] The school is the first of its kind in Jordan and follows the innovative education model pioneered by École 42 in France.
Curriculum
[edit]42irbid adopts a non-traditional approach to learning that emphasizes self-paced, peer-to-peer education without formal teachers or lectures. Students engage in real-world coding projects and are assessed by their peers. The curriculum focuses on programming, problem-solving, and collaboration[4]
Affiliations
[edit]42irbid is part of the broader 42 Network, which includes similar schools in over 32 countries. The global network promotes inclusivity and innovation in tech education and aims to make high-quality coding skills accessible worldwide.[4]
Impact
[edit]Since its opening, 42irbid has drawn attention from government institutions, media, and private sector supporters as a potential model for future education in Jordan. The program seeks to help bridge the digital skills gap and prepare young people for careers in the technology sector.[5]
