"A Complicated Song" is a song by the American musician "Weird Al" Yankovic that first appeared on his 2003 album Poodle Hat. It parodies Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" from her 2002 album Let Go.[1]
Background
[edit]Yankovic told Variety that he had a lot of ideas for the parody, but he didn't like one idea, so he decided that each verse be one of the ideas for the parody.[2]
Plot
[edit]The song's plot is divided into three stories: Him getting constipated after a pizza party, Al finding out his date is his cousin and him getting decapitated on a roller coaster due to him standing up.[3]
Promotion
[edit]To promote the album, Yankovic did a fake interview with Lavigne.[nb 1][4]
Notes
[edit]- ^ Yankovic's "interviews" are made from splicing together previously existing interviews, as to appear to be a real interview.
