Adam Murphy (building designer)
[edit]Adam Murphy (born 1975) is an Australian building designer and the principal of ANS Design, a residential design firm based in Sydney, New South Wales. He has been active in the building and design industry since the early 2000s, with a focus on small to medium-scale residential developments across the Greater Sydney region.
Early life and education
[edit]Murphy was born in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1975.[1] He attended Lalor Technical School and later studied building design at the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (Hornsby Campus).[2]
Career
[edit]Murphy established ANS Design in 2002 alongside a business partner under the registered name A.L. Murphy & S. Park. After the partnership ended in 2024, Murphy continued operating the business as a sole trader under the same brand.[3]
ANS Design offers building design and documentation services, including development application plans, BASIX certification, and BCA-compliant documentation. The practice emphasizes practical, sustainable, and regulation-compliant residential design, and has completed projects in suburbs such as Bella Vista Waters, Hunters Hill, Cherrybrook, Kellyville, and North Epping.[4]
Murphy is a registered member of the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) and holds relevant licenses and insurance for operating as a building designer in New South Wales.[5]
Reception
[edit]Clients have praised Murphy’s work for its tailored design approach and attention to detail. A verified review on Oneflare described his process as "focused" and noted that the resulting home featured "perfectly sized and organized rooms" that were "customized to be perfect for us".[6]
Although Murphy and ANS Design have not received national media coverage or industry awards to date, the business maintains an ongoing presence in the local residential design sector through its website, client referrals, and online platforms.
