Early Years (2021-2024)

[edit]

AFC Ohio played their first official season in 2021 as a part of the Northern Ohio Soccer League (NOSL), where they were eventually crowned league champions after defeating Mansfield Liederkranz FC 2-1 in the playoff final. During 2022, the program expanded to support two men's teams, one playing in the NOSL, and another joining the Ohio Valley Premier League (OVPL). Also in 2022, the club switched to playing home matches at the newly finished turf soccer and lacrosse field (construction completed in August 2021) on the campus of Malone University in Canton, Ohio. During the 2022 season, AFC Ohio reached the NOSL playoff semi-final for the second of four consecutive years (2021-2024), before losing to eventual champions, Greater Columbus FC. In 2023 and 2024, Ambassadors FC Ohio expanded to a roster of nearly 60 players across two teams, made a fourth NOSL semi-final appearance, and maintained a competitive presence in the OVPL.
