Arjun Mark is an Indian fashion photographer known for his work in advertising, with a style characterised by bold, polished, and modern aesthetics in beauty and fashion photography. His work is recognised for its distinctive approach and departure from conventional norms.[1]

Arjun is a Canon EOS Ambassador for India. He received the Fashion Photographer of the Year award at the Indian Fashion Awards in 2021. His work has been featured in publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Filmfare, Grazia, and Elle, and he has also worked with a range of consumer brands including MAC, Glow & Lovely, Lakmé, Clinique and Estée Lauder to mention a few.[2][3]

Early life and education

Arjun Mark was born in South India and spent his early years living in various towns and cities across the region. He initially pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science before shifting his focus to study Visual Communication at Loyola College, Chennai, where he was first introduced to photography.

During his time at Loyola College, he worked part-time as an apprentice to several photographers. After graduating in 2004, he continued apprenticing full-time with photographers based in Chennai and Mumbai for four years. He began his independent career in Chennai and later relocated to Mumbai in 2011.[4]

Career

His film for Canon India, titled Mesmerising Jellyfish Dancing in the Moonlight, received an award in the Experiential category at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival[5] and he has been recognised in Lürzer's Archive's 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide[6] for multiple years. He also serves as a Canon EOS Ambassador for India.[7]he is honoured to be one of the jury on the panel of the prestigious Black & White WPGA Awards 2013[8]

Personal life

Arjun Mark is an avid game-fishing enthusiast and has a deep interest in ocean life and wildlife. He undertook a solo cycling journey covering over 3,600 kilometres from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, commonly referred to as K2K. He documented his experiences daily, capturing the cultural and geographical diversity of India. His detailed travelogue, featuring descriptive narratives, has been noted as both an inspiration and a resource for aspiring long-distance cyclists.[9]
